Invited to a job interview, where interviewer will be AI. They included a link to an example interview, and link to "find more information [about being interviewed by an AI] here," and that link says, "This page couldn’t be found," when I click it.
Gonna have to prank this AI interviewer, right? I mean clearly they're not a serious company using a machine to do interviews and leaving their tips for potential recruits 404. I already know it would be a nightmari…

Good website #uber guys...
I needed to update my password. Then I couldn't go back (yes yes, outside of my browser's back button)

The "Manage your profile" page of the Uber service. There is no link to return to the main page of one's uber account (showing rides taken etc.), and since the account management page opens in the same tab the main service page was in, you must use your browser's back button.

The very helpful AI assistant had asked "Ask me anything about your Uber account", to which I asked "how do I get back to the main uber page"

The AI's response was

Google Safe Browsing has started blocking websites using #Mailcow for self-hosting email. Google calls them dangerous, and they're right: dangerous to their data-driven business model.
Yet most people still use #Google services. They talk about privacy, even attend

The image shows a warning page in Google Chrome with a red background and a white cross icon. It alerts users that the website is dangerous and may try to trick them into installing software or sharing sensitive information such as passwords, phone numbers, or credit card details. There are buttons labeled "Details" and "Back to safe website," as well as a link for more information about the warning.
The image shows a Google Search Console alert about a website security issue. It reports that harmful or misleading content was found on the site, which could trick users into unsafe actions, such as installing unwanted software or revealing personal data. The interface offers a button to request a review after fixing the problem.

Old enough to remember 2013-02-07 when any web page that included a Facebook-supplied javascript resource (to enable the, once ubiquitous, Facebook Connect) redirected users to Facebook.
(It's the event that most informed my suspicion in using third-party javascript - without SRI.)
It's 2025: Facebook is retiring external like buttons, but Cloudflare is breaking captchas.

All I want to do is set up a small monthly donation and be able to manage that in the future!

Global Solutions to Non-Convex Functional Constrained Problems with Hidden Convexity

Abstract: Constrained non-convex optimization is fundamentally challenging, as global solutions are generally intractable and constraint qualifications may not hold. However, in many applications, including safe policy optimization in control and reinforcement learning, such problems possess hidden convexity, meaning they can be reformulated as convex programs via a nonlinear invertible transformation. Typically such transformations are implicit or unknown, making the direct link with the convex program impossible. On the other hand, (sub-)gradients with respect to the original variables are often accessible or can be easily estimated, which motivates algorithms that operate directly in the original (non-convex) problem space using standard (sub-)gradient oracles. In this work, we develop the first algorithms to provably solve such non-convex problems to global minima. First, using a modified inexact proximal point method, we establish global last-iterate convergence guarantees with $\widetilde{\mathcal{O}}(\varepsilon^{-3})$ oracle complexity in non-smooth setting. For smooth problems, we propose a new bundle-level type method based on linearly constrained quadratic subproblems, improving the oracle complexity to $\widetilde{\mathcal{O}}(\varepsilon^{-1})$. Surprisingly, despite non-convexity, our methodology does not require any constraint qualifications, can handle hidden convex equality constraints, and achieves complexities matching those for solving unconstrained hidden convex optimization.

Just a reminder:
Each of you ought to take a look at your state's "unclaimed property" website. You may find something owed to you or to someone you know.
The amounts can be trivial or they can be large - and you won't know until you check.
Usually getting the funds owed to you is as simple as filling out a government form on a web page (and perhaps submitting something that proves you are who you say you are.)

This is genuinely terrifying. Google Scholar is pushing "AI Powered Scholar Search."
What's scariest about this is that it will almost certainly turn up results that feel *right* -- they'll mention relevant topics and let a researcher craft a perfectly unassailable reference list.
But what it will prevent the researcher from doing is the actual research of finding relevant publications: discovering connections, framing questions, identifying contrasts…
