A same-sex love, bursting, terrible. A secret he must keep even from his poems. My heart aches for his suppressed passion.
I don't want to overlook the rest of the poem: Whitman compares his love for the athlete to the Earth. The Earth which also has something terrible ready to break forth. It's really quite grandiose and apocalyptic.
(The Live Oak draft is worth comparing because it's even more direct. "an athlete loves me, and I him").

Another poem in a style I don't care for. A series of negations, Whitman declaiming all the things he is not doing. On a theme I also don't care for, Whitman talking about his own legacy.
The nice part is what he does imagine his legacy to be:
these carols, vibrating through the air, I leave,
For comrades and lovers.
I love that phrase "vibrating through the air", delicious poetry. And once again Whitman's declares his passion for comrades and lovers, a return to the central gay theme of Calamus.

#HappyBirthday to Peter Gzowski, one of Canada’s most beloved broadcasters. He was born in Toronto in 1934 and raised in Galt, Ontario. At the University of Toronto, he edited the school newspaper, The Varsity, and developed his passion for journalism. A born storyteller, he worked at newspapers in Timmins, Moose Jaw, and Chatham. In 1958, he joined Maclean’s where he became the magazine’s youngest ever managing editor in 1962. He was best known as the host of the CBC Radio's Morningside, the program that earned him the informal title of Captain Canada. Canadians from coast to coast to coast responded to his folksy style of interviewing everyone from Prime Ministers to celebrities. It is estimated that over his career, Peter Gzowski conducted some 30,000 interviews.

C’est l’histoire d’un écrivain sénégalais entre les mains duquel tombe un vieux livre oublié, « Le labyrinthe de l’inhumain », d’un certain T. C. Elimane, auteur d’une seule œuvre dont plus personne ou presque ne sait plus rien.

Il y a cette sensation, parfois, face Š certaines photographies. On tombe nez Š nez avec une image, et il se passe quelque chose. Pas besoin qu’elle soit l’œuvre d’un grand photographe, ni de tout savoir ou de connaître l’artiste. Il suffit de la regarder, et aussitôt elle nous plonge dans un souvenir, un vieux rêve ou une sensation intime.
