Change of plans: I didn’t end up waiting for the upcoming Minisforum MS-03 Workstation after all, but instead decided on the ASUS NUC16 PRO on a whim.

So, I have judged C `std::unordered_map` for a quite a few years, but it appears that many of the performance issues were kinda resolved.
Upon running both a full microbenchmark suite comparing it to equivalent in other languages, and benchmarking the logic engine I made with indices based upon it, performance hold up quite well!
Another questionable win for C I guess.

Can you hear the “music” over the crickets? Did the phone pick it up? I am literally *at least* five miles out of the village, away from where they are playing this. You can imagine what the amplification is like next to the house. 😬

#ZSA sent me a new voyager keyboard including switches because the old one had a problem with the 3.5mm socket.
I feel the new switches provide better haptic feedback which I like a lot.
Both the new and the old one use brown switches because I have to use it at the office but the old ones didn't give me any resistance when typing.

I promise I won’t annoy you with any more posts about the album/collection after this, but I just had to thank Mastodon people who came to the ‘Otherscapes’ listening party yesterday. It made all the work put into it feel better. That anyone would come is encouraging, but especially that some stayed for 5, 6, 7 hours into the 11 hour release. Systemd-boot, secure boot, LUKS. No flatpaks 😜 Extension-manager in the repos. And great theming.

So I am the only dweller in my home the coming week, and I become so incredibly bored when I am alone - I hate it.
Anyway, this is what I have done during the last 6 hours:
- Fixed the leaking toilet
- Fixed the damaged toilet seat
- Almost migrated my Nextcloud server
- Started to migrate my Matrix Synapse server
- Rebuild some furniture in order to hide the router (Wife Approved)
- Installed OpenHop (Meshcore) on my raspberry pi with a MeshADV hat

Everything pulled out of the old build and ready for installation into the new case along with the new cooler and what have you. Smol motherboard, but yuuuge GPU by comparison. Basically the same hardware going into the larger case but with much improved cooling and a significantly reduced risk of snapping something off of the GPU.

Seeing the amount of energy that is "wasted" to the grid each day (only to be imported again at night for money) got me motivated to build another smaller battery out of 70 spare 18650 cells (10s7p) to join the bigger one behind it (Installation still pending).
0.7 kWh is not huge, but better than leaving as good as new cells sitting in the corner for years.
Old ammunition boxes make for great cases btw.
