"Municipal Judge Margo Kirchner has ruled that Paul Florsheim, a Shorewood resident and professor at the University of Wisconsin − Milwaukee, was trespassing on private property while walking along Lake Michigan last summer. In December, Florsheim argued in municipal court that a ticket issued for trespassing by Shorewood police was unlawful. As a result, Florsheim is ordered to pay the $313 ticket that he was issued."

My resort (mix of timeshares & private property) has a Mai Tai Thursday that I accidentally walked into & it’s the first time I’ve seen rowdy boomers & it’s kinda cute. Didn’t even know there’s so many ppl here until they started cheerfully appearing with their walking frames from all corners.

The Quw’utsun (Cowichan) First Nation was exactly right in 2017:

They knew that if the case was framed as ‘taking over private property rights’, that it would be politicized and a lightning rod for racism and misinformation when that was not the point of their claim, which was against the Crown.
