I am reading “The Courage to Be Disliked” which is a popularization book based on Adlerian psychology.
This is my first encounter with Adlerian psychology. Many of the concepts are mind blowing, surprising, creating a strong emotional reaction, but very difficult to contradict.
If anyone read more on this subject, I’d be very interested in the next level on this subject. This being a popularization book goes very quickly over aspects of life that I usually struggle the most with.

Series D, Episode 05 - Animals
JUSTIN: The only human working here, yes. I'm training the animals to work of course, but its slow. Very slow. I've got them right physically, you see, but its the psychology that's difficult. What they want to do is exist; however, I'm trying brain implants and so on but they hate it, it's...it's painful. That's why they rebelled and broke out.
DAYNA: The most developed ones?
Fun educational psychology experiment idea if anyone wants to run it by an IRB and get a paper published:
Get an entire compsci 1 class to take the RAADS-R. Then measure how easily/quickly they understood call/return stack semantics when the concept was first introduced (based on quiz/homework score, self reported "this makes sense" level, or something else).
And scatter plot the two against each other. Do you get two neat clusters?

I’m looking for fun AI related projects that students with minimal technical skills (mostly humanities students) can handle, as a practical and instructive end of term project given the current situation.
The kinds of projects I have in mind are:
- Fine tuning an LLM for a particular use
- Building custom chatbots
- Doing"psychology" on LLM interactions.
The goal is for the project to be engaging and lead to further reflection. Ideas for such projects and links to resources much appreciated!

"Why some climate policies are more popular than others – a psychologist explains"
#Climate #ClimateChange
Great stuff in this article but I do not know if unplugging from the broligarch's platforms is the solution to end their delusional grandeur.
It is the same with the climate crisis. This cannot hinge on the individual to solve but the whole system has to change. Individual action is good but that is not enough.

when it comes to #psychology and #mentalhealth I've read a decent number of #books on the topic.
I think the best I've read are:
- David D. Burns' Feeling Good (CBT generally including anxiety, depression)
- Sue Johnson's Hold Me Tight (romantic/marital relationships)
- Peter Kramer's Against Depression (on why depression is not a creative gift or sign of moral incompetence, biological underpinnings)
Peter Rutter's Sex in the Forbidden Zone has also been instrumental in forming my understanding of the unhealthy ways romantic interest manifests.
Anne Wilson Schaef's Co-Dependence: Misunderstood--Mistreated is the best I've read explaining how "being good" can oftentimes actually be bad.
The latter two are both more things I extract from the books rather than the books themselves and both are couched in ways that make them not ideally suited to the topic...but still the best I've found.
In addition one might include Joel Fuhrman's Eat for Life (I'm reading it now, I originally read Eat to Live) for nutritional health (which affects psychological) and David Allen's Getting Things Done (still one of the most influential books I've read on productivity).
My #question is, are there books you've read that you'd considered "must reads" on psychological / mental health? Not just mental illness, but mental health?
