SF is learning the wrong lesson from speed cameras I'm afraid. There's no evidence these cameras are slowing drivers outside of the specific spots they're placed; that they'll slow outlier speeders most likely to kill; or that road diets wouldn't achieve better results for less money.

Proposed development in Marina is only 11% affordable, a pathetically low percentage, yet “It would…provide six times more affordable homes than have been built in the Marina District in two decades — only 14 below-market-rate units have been constructed since 2005.”
Says so much about the degree to which affordable housing has been both underinvested in and kept out of wealthy neighborhoods.
