Yesterday, for the first time in the modern history of Spain, the whole country was left without electricity and with the communications of the end of the analog era.
Children had to play ball in the parks, families had to have barbecues in the parks and play board games... And I had to read a book. Going back to the 20th century was hell!

“From Catalunya in the northeast to Andalusia in the southwest of Spain, she overcame local differences, building solidarity among anarcho-syndicalists whose strength really lay in local and regional councils. She had the capacity to speak to a crowd as if she were talking to friends in a café, and reached equally the male and female working class. A natural teacher, she understood and could explain how particular struggles fit into larger campaigns… she was one of those mythical organizers …

"Twelve years after “As We May Think”, and simultaneous with the developments of the IBM 1401 and FORTRAN, copies of “Datamation” started popping up on selected newsstands. This magazine was the godfather of all programming magazines, and held its crown for 41 years (quite a few ages in computer time!), until being phased out as an online magazine in February 1998."

Just spent 7 hours experiencing life sans electricity here in Spain - we're totally fine, but wow the world does not function in very basic ways, and if you don't own a radio you really have zero information or ability to communicate.
Took this bad boy to Madrid. ❤️🇪🇸

#Mexico forbids killing bulls and subjecting them to the most extreme forms of torture.
#Spain is, sadly, still far behind... but I suspect that Mexico's precedent will help, not just as a good example, but also because it will severely decrease the income of many of those bullfighters (toreros).
Toreros usually travel through many countries to participate in these bloody spectacles and make a living out of it. Removing Mexico from their list will be a big thing, so it is likely that many of them will have to do something else with their lives.

If there's anything we could learn from yesterday's #SpainBlackout is that running software on the cloud that could run locally... is a terrible idea.
#LocalFirst software should be prioritised by companies and public administrations.
I don't think Spanish people will learn the lesson this time (I'm Spanish, so I know what I'm talking about from first hand experience).
I foresee some small groups will react, and start spreading the word, but it will take many other disasters like this one for people to finally understand.
