A video animating the Night of Science poster elements, starting from a black background. A glowing owl eye starts to fade into the foreground, simultaneously with the text "wissen begeistert" in large white letters at the top of the frame and the website address www.goettinger-nacht-des-wissens.de at the bottom of the frame. Retaining only the shared letters, the text at the top then morphs into "6. nacht des wissens begeistert" and on to "6. nacht des wissens göttingen". At the end, the lette…

#UWM is facing calls to cut 5-10% of expenses immediately while both international enrollment and grant-funded research are plummeting. Tuition has been frozen and the state has been cutting back what they contribute to the UW system since the Walker years. There isn't any "low-hanging fruit" left. This is inevitable.

Taken 2 April 2025
#Retail #Supermarket

Shelves behind a glass door in a supermarket. There are a few price labels attached to the shelves, but the shelves are empty of any merchandise. "My advice to young students today is to study language and mathematics. When you talk to a chatbot, you’re using everyday language to talk to a mathematical system that, in turn, talks back to you. Technical skills won’t be enough to deal with the unpredictable results in markets, so a broad-based knowledge of math and language will be the only way to adapt."

At a certain age, the paperwork you have at home is enormous. Official letters, invoices, prescriptions... But, of course, there is a self-hosted application that helps you manage all that clutter.
At the moment, I already have Paperless installed on the server using Docker. I'll leave for the weekend its configuration, testing its ocr (wow!) and its app for Android.
