Google-Experiment „Disco“: Browser macht aus Tabs interaktive Web-Apps
I hate when the Prevacid wears off without warning.
I get surprise reflux that makes my lungs & eustachian tubes burn. I cough & cough & cough. SWMBO comes running because she thinks I’m dying. I wish I was dying. I find my British* Gaviscon, chew a few tabs with a mouthful of water and gargle at length to try to splash something with a pH >7 on all the burning parts. Ultimately it takes ~10 minutes for my lungs to rev up the phlegm production enough to feel normal.

Tell us how you really feel! :3 :boost_ok:
I have, like, 47 tabs open, send help—or maybe just more tabs.
Is it just me? Perhaps because I often have only one or two tabs open - I'm a compulsive tab closer. But the new UI in macOS Safari for handling tabs wastes space, is hard to use, and confuses me constantly about where the URL box is and such. I am unsure why it passed muster at product review time.
Perhaps it works well for others. But even if you always have more than one tab open, it still wastes vertical space.
I really miss the times when programming discourse was discussing the finer details of tabs vs spaces rather than the merits of fascist plagiarism machines.
The code for clicking on a tabs in a browser is a random number generator.
0 - It select the tab
1 - it close the tab
2 - it silence the tab.

I bought a pair of 25' Intellitron stainless steel whip antennas from GigaParts while they were on sale ("two is one and one is none" and the second one tipped me me into "free shipping" making its marginal cost pretty low). On removing them from the packages, however, loose roll pins fell out, and the bases fell off the antennas. Both of them.
A roll pin is an inappropriate fastener to use to connect two concentric thin-walled tubes, so this is a design failure. And the roll pins are …
Ok, I’m procrastinating downloading a bunch of vids with yt-dlp and at this point I’m already reaching the tabs limit on this Safari profile
What’d be the best way of downloading a bunch of videos with yt-dlp while still keeping a good control of what failed and what succeeded? (this is basically impossible from its output if you feed it a bunch of links in a single go)
I was wanting a webui I could selfhost and it’d show progress and status for each video it’s downloading (and let me pass custom options to the yt-dlp command, such as filename), but should I just make a script with a for loop for each URL instead?

Posting from Swb for the first time. Just enabled persistent cookies, so logins will persist across sessions. Some other goodies as of today:
- favicons in tab labels
- loading feedback via a spinner in the tab labels
Lots of other smaller features are underway but not finished. I did some groundwork on vertical tabs this morning, and layed out the classes for history storage.

Hrmm, worked on writing the #adventofcode 2025 Day 1 solve in Rust, wasn't too horrible. Pretty fast though I did have all of the tabs open trying to figure out how to do things.

This is attributed to H.G. Wells:

I don't know what this says about my life but I've just remembered that I dreamt that I read or tagged then closed loads of browser tabs. In the dream I was so proud of myself!

Well-written post, especially the “About Phanpy” part 😉
Very cool to see this.

Man, sometimes my autistic hyperfocus gets me all riled up about fascists. I think I’ll just close all my tabs and head back to Bandcamp.
Some progress on Simple Web Browser today.
- Forward/Back/Reload implemented
- Control buttons are sensitive only when they do something (ie, forward button is greyed out if you can't go forward)
- Added a shortcut to focus the address bar
- Change text in address bar and window title when changing tabs

I think this is the first time I like a GitLab UI change. The "search or go to" field makes much more sense on the top of the page. And I can create a new issue from anywhere in a project. Still not a fan of issues opening in this weird sidebar thing (my browser has tabs and a back button..).

Trying to daily drive Epiphany (Gnome Web) as my browser for a while. It's handling all of the sites that I need it to, including everything school-related, but for whatever reason I can't create or edit any bookmarks.
I'm trying to resist the temptation to start something WebkitGTK based. Epiphany's interface is, well, ok. But I'd really love something more flexible. In particular, I'm missing the vertical tabs from recent Firefox releases - it's a real sp…
