Google updates Chrome with vertical tabs, a feature that Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge have long offered, and a new full-screen reading mode (Lance Whitney/ZDNET)

I have a theory that being a too-many-tabs person correlates strongly with how many captchas you see. So if you have 300 tabs open, and then you need to restart your browser and recover your tabs, your computer is hitting a whole bunch of cloudflare (or whatever centralized captcha org) sites at once which raises suspicions. And orgs like cloudflare probably track IP address reputations, almost like blacklists.
Is this on track? Is there anything out on the 'net that might bac…

Cranky again about how Android randomly reserves the right to kill applications for power management or its own inscrutable reasons, even if you have power management settings for the app set to "unrestricted".
So every time I open firefox it's a 50/50 shot whether my incognito tabs from my last browsing session (my default browsing mode to minimize leaving residue in history etc) are there or not.
On a desktop OS, apps randomly being terminated for no reason would …
Posting from Swb for the first time. Just enabled persistent cookies, so logins will persist across sessions. Some other goodies as of today:
- favicons in tab labels
- loading feedback via a spinner in the tab labels
Lots of other smaller features are underway but not finished. I did some groundwork on vertical tabs this morning, and layed out the classes for history storage.

Some progress on Simple Web Browser today.
- Forward/Back/Reload implemented
- Control buttons are sensitive only when they do something (ie, forward button is greyed out if you can't go forward)
- Added a shortcut to focus the address bar
- Change text in address bar and window title when changing tabs

Well-written post, especially the “About Phanpy” part 😉
Very cool to see this.

I don't know what this says about my life but I've just remembered that I dreamt that I read or tagged then closed loads of browser tabs. In the dream I was so proud of myself!

Learned a new functionality in @…, tab tiling. I can have two tabs next to each other in one window!
Trying out vertical tabs not because I'm a tab hoarder (quite the opposite) but because most sites I visit are mobile-first so they look too wide on desktop.
My ideas:
- Peer to peer sync, no server required.
- A small one-binary component you could run on your own server or as a service and pair with your "account" to make it work without another browser peer online.
- Take the ideas from container tabs and use that to create personal contexts within which to sync. Basically: sub-accounts, where you can select what's inherited from global settings and when. (tough to design good UI for. this is the most ambitious idea.)
I really miss the times when programming discourse was discussing the finer details of tabs vs spaces rather than the merits of fascist plagiarism machines.
You don't have to leave your Zellij session, or install anything, to share it across CGNAT! All you need to do is run:
```
ssh -R 80:localhost:8082 demo.sandhole.com.br
```
And thanks to Sandhole (https://sandhole.com.br), you get your own (temporary) HTTPS subdomain with zero config!

I guess people are tired of the Vim vs. Emacs or the tabs vs. spaces holy wars? 😅
Google hat FID als Web Vital durch INP ersetzt. Klingt nach Buchstabensuppe, ist aber wichtig. 🍜
DevTools zeigt INP live. ⏳
The code for clicking on a tabs in a browser is a random number generator.
0 - It select the tab
1 - it close the tab
2 - it silence the tab.
Heynote is pretty cool. If you're the sort of person that uses an auto-saving untitled tab in your text editor to store random notes and snippets (Notepad /Sublime Text/etc), it's pretty similar to that. There are some differences (most notably you have to name your tabs), but overall it maintains a similarly minimalist UI.

I hate when the Prevacid wears off without warning.
I get surprise reflux that makes my lungs & eustachian tubes burn. I cough & cough & cough. SWMBO comes running because she thinks I’m dying. I wish I was dying. I find my British* Gaviscon, chew a few tabs with a mouthful of water and gargle at length to try to splash something with a pH >7 on all the burning parts. Ultimately it takes ~10 minutes for my lungs to rev up the phlegm production enough to feel normal.
To the beautiful person working on amdgpu drivers who managed to fix resume from sleep issues on 6.18.18 release, I love you!!
Its been a day since I ran this version on my PC and I still haven’t run into the black screen issue.
I am still worried it might trigger because workdays are a different beast (more brower tabs, lot of stuff running in background, etc.) but hopefully it goes well!!

I connected my Samsung TV to the internet to try for wireless display and casting from Android working and I regret it instantly.
Worse, there's gamepads ads and Ramsey giving me the middle finger on my home screen. It split my 4 inputs into two different tabs: one's a new games tab to push me into using their cloud gaming apps. No option to move consoles back to the main tab.
Wireless display to play videos from PC is nice, but casting doesn't work. Not worth it and …
