Coming soon (likely this afternoon, I’m writing tests and docs and updating examples as we speak)…
This is the sort of thing you’ll be able to do with Markdown pages. Just pop any arbitrary JavaScript you want in the new script block in the front matter and then import and use components as well as plain old JavaScript tagged template variable interpolation (not shown in this example) inside your Markdown.
The screen has all the code (sans the end of the last line of CSS and the…

It looks like 1) I have missed 30.2 announcement. 2) I can’t find a tagged version for 30.3.
I am using savannah Git and git tag shows emacs-30.2 but not emacs-30.3. (I did first git fetch —all —tags too)

The new integrated Markdown parser I’ve been implementing in Kitten has been kicking my ass for the past few weeks but I think I finally have it fully working and seamlessly so. Expect a new release this/next week that brings the parsing of Markdown pages (.page.md files) in your apps up to the standard of the recently-improved runtime Markdown parsing in Kitten HTML tagged-template strings (within `<markdown>…</markdown>` blocks).
The coolest thing is I was able to impleme…

I was trying to package #FlexiBLAS for #Gentoo, and to be honest, it doesn't look that good.
The first red flag is lack of an open bug tracker. Apparently, there is the tracker on GitLab that's limited to "members of their group and selected external contributors", but it doesn't seem to be used much. So it's "send us an email", and wonder how many people sent us the same bug report before.
The git repository is currently at something tagged 3.4.80 that seems to be prerelease, and its build system is quite broken. Not exactly the best path to verify that the bugs you are hitting are still there.
Now, upstream seems to insist on either using vendored netlib #LAPACK, or statically linking to the system library (we don't install the static libraries). Apparently I can specify the shared libraries instead, but it doesn't work — and it's unclear to me whether it doesn't work because I'm using the shared libraries, or because it doesn't support my LAPACK version. If I build LAPACK without deprecated symbols, it refuses to load it at runtime because of missing symbols. And if I build it with deprecated symbols, it fails to find some symbols at CMake time.
Honestly, I feel like I've spent too much time on this project already, especially given that its future is entirely unclear to me — the current git is quite broken, I have no clue how many issues were reported already and whether my bug reports will receive any reply. It definitely doesn't fare well for a package that we might start to rely heavily on. We don't want a cathedral there.

I am being tagged by M-Enabling in a post on LinkedIn to pitch me on attending a talk at its conference. Which is an almost guaranteed way to ensure I will not attend.

Starting this week in the U.S., Instagram rolled out a new map view, which you access at the top of the direct-message inbox.
The map, confusingly, combines two forms of location sharing:
First, it includes locations you have actively tagged in recent Instagram stories or posts.
Second, the app nudges you to opt in to a new form of passive location sharing
— letting friends see wherever you last opened the app,
even just to scroll through it.

Content warning: a nice thing - yesterday's BiCon pre-meet

Hosted a BiCon pre-meet yesterday, online. Conveniently there were exactly 12 people there for most of it (not counting me), perfect for dividing into threes! I kept switching the groups so that people could meet different people.
We talked about how we'd each like BiCon to be, and how we could make it more likely to turn out that way.
Top tips: get enough sleep, eat enough food, and don't try to do everything!
Then we also talked about what contribution we might like to make - though I also said, just being there and being friendly and making BiCon more varied is a contribution in itself :-)
Several of the people who'd come along turned out to be already signed up to offer workshop sessions, so we heard a little bit about those.
Two tasks currently available if you want one are (a) keeping an eye on the Zoom setup for the hybrid events, (b) leafleting at Pride on Saturday, so that more people know about BiCon for Sunday. There's usually also opportunities to assist with being welcoming at reception.
In-person BiCon starts tomorrow, and runs Friday till Sunday. The venue is a couple of buildings belonging to the girls' high school, in between the Forest and the Arboretum. I tagged along for a site visit the other day and I think it's pretty good for air quality.
Apparently about 70 people have booked so far. It's also possible to buy a ticket on the day, so that might not be the final total.
As I reminded people last night, you don't have to be bi to come to BiCon! And if you _are_ bi, you don't have to be any particular amount of bi :-)

🥳 New Kitten Release
• Improved Markdown parser
Kitten’s JavaScript tagged template strings (`kitten.html`) no longer fail to render as expected when interpolated values are used inside of Markdown where the Markdown render changes source order.
So, for example, the following will now work correctly, whereas, previously, the link source and link text would have been erroneously flipped:
kitten.html`
<markdown>
