I consider these kinds of events to be nearly useless symbolism, preaching to the choir.
I do accept that these events are useful as means to meet others, but one should not expect these events to have even the slightest impact on the maga/white-nationalist/musk-ites... Nor do I think they have much impact on those who are in "the middle" and do not particularly engage in politics.

Calamus 21 Music always round me
A celebration of life, the metaphor of music all around us if only you can hear it. The last line is what gives me pause, it suggests an interesting nuance of meaning.
I do not think the performers know themselves—But now I think I begin to know them.
I'm a little pressed to find a gay reading of this poem, it doesn't have the usual paeans to manly love. There is a pleasant exuberance and sensuality to it, "shuddering luciously" and all. But it's the beginning lines that really catch me:
Music always round me ... yet long untaught I did not hear,
But now the chorus I hear, and am elated,
It's like there's a secret world of pleasure that Whitman only recently has learned to enjoy himself. A feeling similar to the epiphany of coming out to oneself.

It's June, so I've got my Javastation off the shelf for the first time in a couple of decades. This is a Javastation Krups, with 100MHz sparc, sold as a diskless workstation. I never realised it had a PPP ROM boot in! Anyway, I should get on and set up networking and a boot server.
(Note: the plastic on the clips on the doors is fragile, 2 just pinged off on me)

A screenshot of the 'JavaOS PPP dialer' - it's got a Motif style widgetry, a Sun purpley theme, a Java logo in the corner and some options and progress bar.
A screenshot, showing a Java logo in the corner, 'JavaStation' in big at the top and an icon that looks like a SIMM, probably indicating ROM boot.
The side of a JavaStation Krups, it's shape is ...odd. Quite smooth, ovalish in cross section, on the side is a Java logo, and there's another on the top, It's mostly grey with two wings at the back in Purple and some cooling vents inbetween.
The back of a Sun Javastation Krups with it's doors open, showing the audio jacks, Mini DINs for power, mouse and keyboard, LAN and VGA.

Free course: "The Stories We Live By," an online course in ecolinguistics provided by the University of Gloucestershire.
"The course examines a wide range of texts from advertisements, lifestyle magazines and economics textbooks to surfing guides, Native American sayings and Japanese animation. In each case, the question is whether the stories that underlie texts encourage us to care about people and the ecosystems that life depends on."

business owners once again proving they don't know how people get to their stores. they equate congestion with economic activity, when the opposite is true. there's no parking on the street! taxis are allowed!! the vast majority will come by public transit
“S.F. businesses are pressuring Mayor Lurie to reopen Market Street to cars. Will it work?”

There’s no rain in the forecast for Flin Flon, Manitoba over the next week as crews there fight a wildfire that’s raging nearby.
Temperatures throughout the weekend are expecting to range from the low to high 20s, before cooling off.
Thousands have evacuated the northwestern Manitoba city, including municipal government officials and health-care professionals.

Trump learned about the timing of Musk’s departure in the same manner that the president himself has often used to share significant personnel news:
via a social-media post
"The president knew that Musk would be leaving soon, but not the exact timing until the post was sent"
