If it’s not already clear, I’m #ActuallyAutistic and proudly trans, who uses they/them pronouns and identifies as Non-Binary/Gender-Fluid, and bisexual.
I get really scared around other trans people because I worry I might accidentally say something transphobic or homophobic, and I deeply believe, with all my heart, that trans people deserve to live.
:transgender_flag:

A gender-fluid person stands in a softly lit hallway holding two pride flags, one gender-fluid and one bisexual. They are wearing a green cap and a black dress. Framed art and a potted plant are visible in the background, adding a cozy and calm atmosphere.
A person with a light beard and long hair pulled back is taking a selfie indoors. They are wearing over ear headphones, a brown cap, layered necklaces, a patterned hoodie, and a backpack. Their T shirt features a graphic portrait and a necklace with the peace symbol. The background is a plain light wall.

Hrmm, I'm having an urge to rewrite the Extron VTG-200 software and make it a bit more recent. The RS232 controls seem to be well documented...

View from the top of the hill at the Summerland Farm Preserve in Caroline near peak of fall color

A yellow-green grass field fills the bottom 1/4 of the fame, then there are a few nearby trees and then a view of a hillside with brightly colored trees with numerous hill lines behind too far away to show colors

Smart fridge, smart stove, smart dishwasher, smart washer/dryer or other household appliances... HELL NO! I don't want or need internet connected appliances. If those servers goes offline, if an 'upgrade' glitches or I say no to an update what happens to the basic functionality? What data are they capturing and selling?

Added a zoom level to the Category page on the Exocortex-Log app. Can make the graphs look a lot cleaner now.
Looking back over the last 100 months here, we can see in general my social life is quite seasonal -- Festivals are a lot of social all weekend long and a couple of them in a month really bumps up the hours from my usual habit of sitting alone in a dark room pressing buttons.
The peak in 2019 is a summer filled with Glasto and Noisily and another festival or camping trip I don’t seem to have recorded the name of.
Then clearly visible is the drop-off in social activity as the COVID pandemic hit. Virtual-Social (IE zoom meetings and the like) picked up quite a bit around there but had died back to almost nothing way before the hours spent with actual people started to tick up.
Annoyingly, I have my biggest gap in data right on top of the pandemic there, where I failed to back up for months and then data became corrupted.
When the data-hole is over we see social life still not really returning until the middle of 2021 and not really getting back into stride until summer 2022.
It remains much lower now on average with lower peaks than before the pandemic too. Multiple reasons.
Work is pretty constant all the way though other than the data-hole. Dipping when I take time off for social mostly.
That data-hole is annoying. Back up your data kids.

Sometimes hacking a computer means a whole different thing...
In this use, I'm actually hacking (with a hacksaw) the case apart to add an I/O shield (custom made) so I can fit an older motherboard that was not designed for this case.
And thank you to Gateway for making me do this by not using a removable shield and instead stamping every hole they needed and covering them with a sticker if they weren't on this model. 🤦‍♂️

four 3d printer I/O shields each with slightly better layout and options. the top is the earliest and has holes that are too small (the DB9 and DB25 are comically small). the next has the right sized DB9 and DB25 cutouts, but there is still a problem with the clearance on the PS/2 ports. the third one would have worked, but I wanted to shift the PS/2 ports half a millimeter and add labels for the three DB ports.
the back of a gateway 2000 G3 case with a large rectangle jacked out where the IO shield should go.
the back of a Gateway 2000 G3 case with the completed I/O shield and motherboard installed. everything lines up and fits.
my assorted implements of destruction used to create the hole for the I/O shield. sitting on top of an old table cloth covered in small pieces of metal are: a round file, a triangle file, a pair of snips, a hacksaw, and a pair of needle nose pliers.

Today I learned about the true power of macros...and holy crap, they are awesome. Started back on the Z80 emulator and wondered if there was a way to reference procs in Nim using strings. Did some searching and came across someone who did something very similar and it never crossed my mind to even try this.
#nim

A simple macro to assign procedures to a lookup table so they can be referenced via string.
