Most of the tinned food I buy these days has a small ring-pull on top of the can. One of the few that doesn't is cans of tuna, so Luther Cat has, Pavlov-like, grown accustomed to the sound of the tin-opener meaning that tuna will shortly be appearing.
Today I opened a tin of mixed bean salad and now I am being glared at because despite hearing the Tuna Sound I have completely failed in my duties of letting him have some.

Crash and burn. I had managed to eliminate so many letters, but when I got to my 6th guess, I knew of 3 words. Turns out my 1st choice was not it, AND my 2nd choice was not it either! It was my 3rd choice.
Wow, the bot said: "Don’t beat yourself up. I tried solving it on my own and failed, too."
I think this is the 1st time I've seen the bot fail to solve it. Looks like 29.3% of the people playing failed to solve it today.

#today I have so far failed to do anything on my paper because I was catching up on New Scientist (what happened to Thursday being the busy day?) but other useful things got done, and the off-grid battery hit FULL for the first time this month...

I have just failed to prove I’m not a robot more than a dozen times in a row. Either:
• The motor vehicles site is malfunctioning
• Captcha is seriously leveling up in difficulty
• I’m wrong about what bicycles, motorcycles, buses, traffic lights, crosswalks, stairs, and mountains* look like
• I’m a robot
*Yes, I got as far as “can you at least see a mountain when one’s in front of you?” And they say I can’t.

Darn, looks like Mastodon failed to send a toot that I'd tried to send previously; anyways I'm liveskeeting today's committee executive session and hearing over on BlueSky today, due to leaving my laptop at home due to it being in the middle of doing some stuff that would be bad to interrupt: #NHPolitics

Today I got an email with an invite to a event and I cannot for the life of me determine if they want to invite me to speak or to participate/listen.
This email really failed at its one job.

> What if what we're seeing today isn't a glimpse of the future, but the new terms of the present?
> What if artificial intelligence isn't actually capable of doing much more than what we're seeing today, and
> what if there's no clear timeline when it'll be able to do more?

The #IIW agenda wall today is effectively full. i was looking for a slot to talk about #FediTest and basically failed.
Wow, unconferences!

Two good questions this morning from Andrew Simonet. The second is one I don’t think we talk about enough: you can’t just have the greatest art from the greatest artists, without the whole cultural ecosystem that produces and nurtures them. The minor artists and the failed experiments all play essential roles too.

Screenshot of text saying:

Two questions:

1. Do you want there to be art?

2. Do you understand that the art you consume—the art you love—is only possible if thousands of artists make art you’ll never see?

If you answer yes to those two questions, thank an artist and pay an artist.
