…OK, that plus human training on basic usage opsec, but that’s mostly not a stuff app vendors can fix. Although usability defaults would help with some of it.

I'm saying it is demonstrably a false statement, that "You don't need to worry about how credentials are stored". And ignoring that need leads to a whole host of usability problems (Ones that I appreciate @…

PS. With all the Discord stuff, in case you wonder why you never see me promoting Matrix, it’s not because it’s a usability nightmare (which it is) but because it’s made by the kind of people who’d be happy to call ICE a customer.
The “F” in FOSS doesn’t stand for fascism.

I get a steady stream in my replies of meant-to-be-helpful advice of the form “You should use [complex F/OSS tech] to [do complex thing] that [solves a problem you don’t have but renders the process unusable for the people doing it]”
…when the real tech problems we’re facing on the ground here, both with Signal and other tools, are 99% just ground-level UX stuff:
- basic, basic usability glitches
- workflow friction
- problematic default settings
- reliability

The "Magic Lamp" minimise effect in KDE Plasma looks stupid, but it's actually kinda great for usability. I mean, it's *very* clear where the window went. I'm keeping it.

Review of Samsung's Galaxy Z TriFold: sturdy but poor camera performance and has some unique design flaws that make it even less polished than regular foldables (Vlad Savov/Bloomberg)

If your are on Firefox and your are tired of the narrow ass scrollbar go to settings and enable "Always show scrollbars" then in about:config set widget.non-native-theme.enabled to true then set widget.non-native-theme.scrollbar.size.override to 15-40.

This is what happened to the web when the software industry never spent a moment thinking about long term stability. About users. About usability. About anything other than features and a fast buck.
Among many other failings.
Would be nice to some professionalism in future. One can hope, but I despair.

Safari is falling behind by the day.
Its usability is borderline ridiculous.
Mouse over a tab, it shows a preview of the tab, you click, and Safari decided to surprise you show **some** tab.

Anyone else having issues with KeepassXC and Fedora 43? Im guessing its something with Wayland/Qt as I can see this error "qt.qpa.wayland: Wayland does not support QWindow::requestActivate()" Waiting 1-3 minutes for it to open is getting real annoying though. Usability is near nil.
