My #silentsunday... Do you know that? You're lazy but you also know that you want some physical activity?
The weather wasn't motivating either. But I finally did one of my standard loops. It was indeed silent as there were almost no people out today.
No more than an occasional "hi". Besides that, no talking, nothing but a fox 🦊 in the distance on a field.

A tranquil winter landscape unfolds in this serene scene, where a gentle hillside slopes downward toward a misty valley. The sky above is a soft canvas of light clouds, casting a muted, peaceful glow over the entire landscape. In the distance, a range of snow-capped mountains rises majestically, their peaks partially obscured by a layer of mist, adding a sense of depth and mystery.

The foreground features a rustic wooden fence that guides the viewer's eye through the scene, leading toward clus…

My neighbor took this picture of our shared backyard last night.

Darkness, where all you can see in the darkness is a set of three lantern lights on a black pole. The lanterns are old-timey looking, with yellow light glowing through the glass lantern windows. Really only two lanterns are visible, with the third being behind the pole. There is white snow piled on top of the lanterns, and also covering the arms of the lanterns, and also slightly covering the pole. There's also snow falling (blurry) around the lanterns. It's both spooky and beautiful.

Today for the first time ever I added fake film grain in post while editing my photos.
I reached the point where noise reduction in low light situations makes my photos look noticeably worse, especially when people are involved. They start looking like wax figures and I hate that.
At the same time, as a digital kid, I wasn't a fan of adding fake grain to my photos. Everyone and their dog knows I don't shoot film. And what's the point of making my photos look worse.
Today something clicked in my brain and I decided I'd rather have some texture and deliberate imperfection in my pictures.
Especially when all this generative AI bullshit these days is about making things look so smooth and perfect it hurts.

Some photos from today's hike in the mountains. To escape the fog.
It was very very icy at the bottom. And I was super happy to have my micro spikes.
The way up was pretty calm. Right the #silentsunday I had desired. At the summit there were a bit too many people and I didn't see proper motives. So I just enjoyed the view and the really warm temperature.

On a more positive note, my home now features a #vacuum robot running the open source #Valetudo cloud replacement. The guide on how to do that was surprisingly easy to follow. Some light soldering, a bit of flashing that's pretty similar to rooting an Android device, and it's done.
And becau…

A black PCB roughly the size of a USB stick with pin headers, a button, a jumper header, and a micro-USB and USB-A socket. Next to it, a smaller PCB that provides a 90Âş breakout for the pins for robots that have their debug port mounted in a less accessible location.

The PCB layout is available on GitHub at https://github.com/Hypfer/valetudo-dreameadapter/tree/master/pcbs/dreamebreakout.
A screenshot of the Valetudo web interface; the left shows a map of the apartment with rooms in different colors. It is heavily blurred, because you all don't need the floor plan of where I live. The right side shows controls for the robots to set operation mode, fan and water use, issue commands to the dock and show statistics for the last run.

Heyo! It's been a very silent and calming day for me. Full relax mode - a bit of programming. And thinking about a walk to the mountains tomorrow.
I'm still undecided where I'd like to go. I'll let the weather decide I guess.
Anyways. The photo is - to me - similar relaxing as my day was. Just some bit of sunshine and a bit of wind ...

A serene and atmospheric scene unfolds in this image, capturing a field of tall, feathery grasses swaying gently in the breeze. The grasses, bathed in soft, golden light, stand out against a backdrop of muted, misty blue tones. The light creates a dreamy, almost ethereal effect, highlighting the delicate textures of the grass heads.

The background is softly blurred, adding depth and a sense of tranquility to the scene. The overall mood is one of calm and quiet beauty, evoking a sense of peacef…

Hey all,
today was a totally grey day. Very low hanging clouds. Actually a superb inversion -- if I would have had the time for a walk to the mountains. Yet other topics were on my schedule for today.
But hey, this is what photos are for: having memories about good time, right? I wrote more about it here:

A stunning panoramic view unfolds under a bright, clear sky, where the sun shines brilliantly, casting a warm glow over a picturesque valley. The sun's rays create a starburst effect, adding a magical touch to the scene. Below, a lush valley stretches out, filled with a patchwork of green fields, dense forests, and scattered clusters of buildings, all bathed in soft morning or late afternoon light.

In the distance, a range of majestic mountains rises, their peaks partially shrouded in a light …
