I just came across "On encule le monde" by Les Guignols.
"We are the world" will never be the same anymore.

Puppets of American Politicians and CEOs singing:

Here comes a time
When we need a real change
When the world must come together at one
There are people dying
And we don't care about
We try to make a better world for me (And me)

We fuck the world (We fuck the world)
We fuck the children (We fuck the children)
We fuck the world, the forest and the sea so let us doing

We make our own business
Just for the USA
And we swear destroying your planet to make money

There are people dying
And we don'…

#Spam in my inbox is bad enough, but *wrong* spam boils my blood.

Of course, #TheMonthly may’ve meant MUBI became available in Australia i…

Illinois is joining a network of the World Health Organization
in hopes of better positioning the state to handle potential health threats,
following the U.S. withdrawal from the group last month.
It’s the state’s latest move into an area that was previously the domain of the federal government,
before the administration began remaking public health policies and guidance.
The Illinois Department of Public Health this week officially joined the World Health Organi…

Throughout most of my life I've lost something maybe once. In the last two weeks, I've lost two things already. And to the point of not even being able to tell when they "disappeared" — I was convinced I have them on me until I've noticed they're gone. I feel like I was losing my mind.
It doesn't help that I was raised to feel guilty about my mistakes. It doesn't help that people around me take this lightly (it's nothing "important"), so I also feel guilty about feeling guilty. And completely estranged.

I've a small account here, same as for all SM platforms I've been on: infrequent posting, no big following. I know bigger accounts get lots of fake followers/bots, but it's rare for me. Maybe it averages to 1 per month on BSky and Insta (when I used it). Anyway, achievement unlocked:
🎉 1st follower that appears to be a bot or a spammer on mastodon (afaik)
Soz if it's a real person, but boasting of your income & faith & few/no posts earns a block from me

I know that following a hashtag is part of the Mastodon protocol itself, but since I'm in @… the majority of the time - it feels like it would be cool to:
- Offer a "follow for a week" / month option
- "We'll ask you when time's up"
mechanism (maybe the ask part is configurable? maybe the client could also just handle it when next it runs?)
I hit this time and time again for moment in time events where during the thick of it, I'm invested and interested - conferences, world news, etc - but after which there's no more signal in the hashtag and it's just detritus putting load on a server somewhere.
Ideally this is something that should be in the protocol itself, but it feels like similar to quote replies that @… could bring a better user experience in advance of adoption of something like that

The Trump administration appeared to acknowledge on Monday that its investigation into
the killing of a Veterans Affairs nurse, Alex Pretti, by federal agents this weekend
was limited to a “use of force” review meant to establish whether government employees had violated training standards.
Such a move, disclosed in court filings, would represent a much narrower inquiry
-- focused on tactics and conduct
-- than one that would examine whether federal agents shoul…

One of my VR Lighthouses died last month. These things are gyroscopically spinning 24 hours a day for, what, a decade now? Nearly.
No wonder. Mostly the industry seems to be settling on using head-mounted cameras rather than sweeping infra-red beams and receptors on the head anyway.
It is true that lighthouses give accurate positioning, but means I can't easily take the headset next door, say. Or to a party.
So inside-out, as they call it, is fine for the headset now and mostly okay for the hand-controllers.
But it offers no solution at all for the foot-trackers and hip-tracker that I need for puppetting the characters in the #vr #slimeVR #trackers
