What annoys me the most about the current state of AI
I've dabbled with ML ever since the very first stanford ML class. That was almost 15 years ago.
On a technical level, it is mind meltingly insane. Just the fact that the stuff that was released in just half a decade works *at all* the way it does is just... amazing.
There is genunely amazing tech in there. Especially in pattern recognition and processing.
But then it gets tarnished by *gestures around broadly*

In this paper we study polycubes: orthogonal polyhedra with axis-aligned quadrilateral faces. We present a complete characterization of polycubes of any genus based on their dual structure: a collection of oriented loops which run in each of the axis directions and capture polycubes via their intersection patterns. Last week, I finished a book that I really liked but the one I followed up with was a letdown so I reckoned I would finally read Elana Ferrante’s “My Brilliant Friend,” which everyone says is so great and it’s on my shelf anyway, bu then I found this old edition of GB Shaw plays and I’m reading that instead, Pygmalion first. It’s very funny — I laughed out loud in Act V. Also — spoiler alert! — it has a better ending than the 1964 film (which I love anyway!).
