The actual removal of the bike lane was extremely loud and agonizingly slow. A massive truck obliterated less than a third of the bright green line on Bedford Avenue between Willoughby and Myrtle Avenues in about an hour of work, as a worker watched to make sure no debris got caught in the machine. Two bicyclists whisked by after 11 p.m. realizing—mid-ride—that the bike lane was being shorn off. One of them turned to their friend, perplexed: "Wait, are they getting rid of this?"

Out & about in the Bernina Range, on our way to the Labyrinth, surrounded by majestic 4000ers (meters)... A dream! 😍
(#ThrowbackThursday, preemptive #FootpathFriday and my personal hiking highlight of 2024)

A glacier side moraine with an almost imperceptible path on its ridge is leading into a sea of ice, rocks and snow in the not so far distance. The massive glacier is just a few dozen meters below from where the picture was taken. It flows & drops down from the peaks in the back (all ~4000m and around 1300m higher up for my position), forming a maze of large seracs on the way. Sunny day with blue sky and some wispy clouds.

Partially-assembled unun. A nut on the upper right is connected to the coax shield, and is connected to a brass screw on the right for a counterpoise connection. A blue 100pf capacitor is in the upper left of a purple 3d-printed box, connected between ground and the center terminal of the input. At the bottom, the 6th turn is tapped and run to another brass screw which provides the 9:1 random wire connection. The assembled unun with two wires attached. At the top is a wire next to a ground symbol on the side of the 3d-printed box. This wire is the counterpoise. On the lower right is another wire connected to the side of the box. This is the random wire connected to the 9:1 antenna connection. At the lower left, in the middle of the lid, is the antenna connection for an end-fed half-wave antenna. Each of the terminals uses a heat-set insert as a finger nut to connect the antennas.

Content warning: Medical stuff / MRI selfie

On the 10th of December 2024 at about 4pm in the afternoon I had a sudden shivering attack. The room wasn't cold, but I was, so I took to bed and shivered on the electric blanket until I napped for a few hours.
Woke up groggy, and never got better. Feeling light headed and occasionally dizzy and half stoned all the time. Can't handle booze or dope at all any more. Doing the job feels like trying to program drunk, concentration shot and short term memory failing.
Various doctors have ordered batteries of tests and put me on drugs to reduce my blood pressure but nothing that's really helped.
They did an MRI last week. Apparently everything looks normal which is good I guess, but still leaves symptoms unexplained.
There are worse fates than feeling half drunk all the time I suppose.
Given no visible brain damage, about the best suggestion anyone has is to stay off booze and drugs (which is easy, since I can't handle them any more) and get back to meditation. If it's damage so small the MRI can't pick it up it'll get better slowly probably. 🤷
Anyway, they gave me the MRI data upon request, so I spent most of yesterday importing it into Blender and making some visualization.
