When you ask someone to respect your GPL free/open source license, sometimes they act offended and say you are threatening them with state violence. The thinking seems to be that copyright law comes down to threats to put people in prison. I've only seen this from privileged white men in tech. Where does this come from? The Jan 23 MN strike was the most successful such effort in the US in…decades, maybe almost a century? And it was baby-sized compared to what we’re talking about here.
I don’t know who needs to get on board to make a national strike a real possibility. But I do know that we should all be thinking about it now.
