The landing site was originally one of two in Crisium considered for a geophysical network mission. My map shows both network candidate sites. The Picard site (A, B) was dropped and a site near a volcanic cone called Mons Latreille (C, D) was chosen. A hazard-free site nearby was selected via several studies in 2021-2022 (E-G).
