San Franciscans! Here's a petition you can sign asking Mayor Lurie and the board of supervisors to fund social housing. You might have seen the flyers around the city.
We voted to fund it with 2020's Prop I, but for obscure reasons of state law, the use of the revenue wasn't legally binding, only intended. And then-Mayor Breed refused to do it. But we can fund it now!

Tying housing costs to homelessness rates, researchers have identified inflection points:
🔸When rents in a community exceed about a third of the median income, homelessness escalates.
🔸“As the share of low-income households with severe rent burdens grows, so does their risk of homelessness,”
said Thomas Byrne of Boston College, an author of the study.
Gregg Colburn, a housing expert at the University of Washington, found that
Seattle and San Francisco, with so…

Updated my list what I moved away from BigTech. To be honest: when I started it, I didn't expect the amount of time & energy it takes to get out.
Therefore I regard it as crucial to just do it step by step. Otherwise you might get overwhelmed. And some nasty dependencies will just show up along the way ... but it's a nice hobby!

The Trump administration is upending its homelessness policy,
with deep cuts to funding for long-term housing.
Instead, it will shift money toward transitional housing that requires work and addiction treatment.
170,000 people could be at risk of losing their housing
Critics warn the major overhaul could put 170,000 people at risk of losing their housing again.
And they say the timing is terrible.
Normally, funding notices go out months earlier, but now pro…

It's a bit frosty outside!
But we're thinking about a small cycling loop ...
#frost #photography #winter

This image captures a close-up of a delicate winter scene. The branches of a plant or shrub are covered in a thick layer of frost or snow, creating intricate, lacy patterns. The frost highlights the fine details of the branches, giving them a crystalline and almost magical appearance.

The background is blurred and light, likely due to the foggy or misty conditions, which adds a soft and ethereal quality to the image. The overall mood is serene and tranquil, evoking a sense of calm and peaceful…

My contribution to #footpathFriday , just fresh from the press ;-)
I went to the local hill / mountain today to escape the fog / clouds. Well and also to see whether the fog would create some nice mood to capture along the way that I'm walking rather often.
And indeed it was a very pleasant experience to walk into the fog and breaking through it to see some blue sky.

This black-and-white image captures a serene and somewhat mysterious winter scene. A light layer of snow covers a hilly path, with tire or foot tracks leading up the slope, creating a sense of movement and direction. The path is flanked by leafless trees and evergreens, their branches dusted with snow.

The fog is thick, enveloping the landscape and creating a soft, muted atmosphere. The fog obscures the background, adding a sense of depth and mystery to the scene. The overall mood is calm and …

Do you feel that you are too dependent on Big Tech and overwhelmed by the number of services you use?
Are you afraid of the amount of work it takes to get out? - I totally feel you!
But the best is to just start. Start with one service at a time.
Don't overthink it too much.
Don't stress yourself.
Just do the first step. And do the second when you're ready.

Photo in the fog that I took last week. I had hoped for more frost but - well. At least there was quite some #fog!
This spot is really interesting. I have there been only a few times now but it looks so very different each time I'm there.

This black-and-white image captures a mysterious and serene scene of a foggy landscape. Tall, leafless trees stand on either side of a calm body of water, their bare branches reaching into the thick mist that blankets the area. The fog obscures the background, creating a sense of depth and adding an ethereal quality to the scene.

The still water reflects the silhouettes of the trees, enhancing the symmetry and tranquility of the image. The overall atmosphere is quiet and contemplative, evoking…

That's how our hike at the #mummelsee started ... and how it was when we were up there. - But the walk was quite okay.
We checked the rain radar and decided to go back down rather quickly. We leveraged our rain gear and it did not disappoint us! 🙂
So we didn't see the area atop - the so called

Perched atop a densely forested hillside, a quaint observation tower and building overlook a tranquil scene. The lush, evergreen forest—rich with deep greens and hints of lighter foliage—cascades down toward a calm, reflective lake below. The sky above is overcast, casting a soft, diffused light that mutes the colors into soothing tones, creating an atmosphere of quiet serenity.

The structure at the summit, partially obscured by the treetops, suggests a rewarding destination for hikers seeking…
A quiet, winding trail meanders through a lush forest, inviting exploration into its verdant depths. Towering trees, their trunks a mix of muted browns and grays, stretch upward to form a dense canopy overhead, filtering the soft, diffused light that gently illuminates the path. The forest floor is a tapestry of earthy tones, with scattered stones and roots peeking through a bed of pine needles and fallen leaves.

To the right, a rocky slope is adorned with vibrant green moss and delicate ferns…
Shrouded in a veil of soft, misty gray, a solitary stone tower rises from the foggy highlands, its rugged silhouette blending seamlessly with the muted tones of the overcast sky. The tower, sturdy and timeless, is accompanied by a quaint building with a green-tinged roof, its wooden bench inviting weary hikers to rest. The gravel path leading to the structure hints at countless journeys taken, each step a story of adventure and exploration.

The atmosphere is one of quiet mystery and contemplat…
A misty veil of soft gray clouds lingers over this tranquil mountain lake, creating an air of quiet mystery. The dense forest, a lush tapestry of evergreen pines and scattered deciduous shrubs, frames the still waters below. Vibrant green foliage contrasts subtly with the muted tones of weathered rocks in the foreground, adding texture to the scene.

The lake itself rests peacefully, its surface barely disturbed, reflecting the muted light filtering through the overcast sky. A faint outline of …
