Messing the whole weekend with the WordPress instance of a friend. He's been using an old plugin for multiple languages. The plugin is abandoned since 2015 and doesn't support newer PHP versions. Wordpress and the other plugins is about to no longer support the old PHP version.

Question for the ether: I have an *old* WordPress site backed up. Not sure on exact version, but from 2009. I have all of the files, but no database (or at least no .SQL export file; I may have the literal files of the db, not sure).
I want to run the site locally on Windows, so that I can see what it looked like. Don't really need content, just mainly the layout and page structure, CSS, basically the theme is what I want to recover. Is this possible? #wordpress #indieweb

Comix Zone: comically hard
I love the concept, of being pulled into a comic and having to battle through the panels. Having the world shaped by your own hand, and then having enemies drawn in by your enemy is a work of genius. Choosing paths, having to jump across or down past the borders of the picture, is a really engaging mechanic. It looks stunning too, with large sprites which have been drawn full of character and incredibly colourful.

Vielleicht habe ich Lust, mal wieder über ein wenig anderes Zeug als Pen&Paper Kram zu bloggen. Ich will das selber hosten und es sollte möglichst handlich sein (kein Wordpress!) und es soll per ActivityPub ans Fediverse angedockt sein. MarkDown-Support wäre wundervoll und man sollte es einfach auf einem regulären Hetzner Webspace mit den üblichen alten Kram wie PHP hosten können - ohne Shell Access, natürlich.

I'm on the 'final' mission now, which is to find the Templar organising all the blockades and book burning and general malpractice. Except I know it's not the last mission, since there are two more mission blocks in the animus. The last assassination was exceptionally annoying. The port master was, as his name suggests, at the port. Specifically, he coops himself up on a ship.

Finally bumped the shared host powering my URL shortener (plus some random stuff that I never use) from [redacted] to PHP 8.4. Had to upgrade YOURLS and WordPress of course but those were painless enough.
Honestly should probably shut down both that shared hosting account and another one I've had for ages, but that's another problem for another day.

Lo mejor es que logré que los vídeos se reproduzcan directamente en la app del Fediverso. Al menos lo he probado en Mastodon, Pixelfed y la app Moshidon.

The Stanley Parable is an odd narrative game, where you are effectively given instructions by the narrator. As an office worker, you suddenly realise that everyone else has disappeared, and it feels that the point of the game is to understand why. If it were a traditional game, that would be the case. The game is most fun, or rather funny, when not following instructions.
