The Stanley Parable is an odd narrative game, where you are effectively given instructions by the narrator. As an office worker, you suddenly realise that everyone else has disappeared, and it feels that the point of the game is to understand why. If it were a traditional game, that would be the case. The game is most fun, or rather funny, when not following instructions.

Sometime this year I crossed 50,000 miles of commuting to work and running errands on cargo bikes since 2006, starting first on a Specialized hybrid extended with an Xtracycle FreeRadical attachment, then upgraded to a Big Dummy, and then, also, an Xtracycle Edgerunner. Until earlier this year, none of these had e-assist, now the Big Dummy does (750W Tongsheng TSDZ8) which makes it even more wonderful.

Chen-Ning Yang (often known in the US as “Frank”) passed away in Beijing yesterday at the age of 103.
He was the last of the great figures of 1950s high-energy particle physics still with us.
His name is associated with two of the central ideas of what was to become the Standard Model.

One of the things I really appreciate in a game is if it makes me look good, full of style, skilled in a way that I'm not in real life. Elaborate swordplay leading to combination hits; parkour across a cityscape; flying through buildings and structures with no effort and no fear. Many games make me feel stylish - or maybe the correct word is cool?

It seems a little contrived to say it's completed, really, since I can see that there are over half the moons I am yet to discover, and the game is still throwing new ideas at me each time I play. However, Peach has been rescued, Bowser is defeated, and the world is a better place. I stopped the wedding, which I hasten to add wouldn't have been legally binding in any case as Peach was not entering it of her own free will.
