Very interesting 🇫🇷 report looking at the needs for long distance heavy duty vehicle charging 🥖🥐🍾🚛🔌. Need to start planning and building now for 2035 needs. Good planning - e.g. sharing grid infrastructure with vehicle charging can bring big savings, but still huge investment needs.

A mineral rush and a hiring crisis: Canadian mining’s ‘dirty’ image is scaring off recruits

Two climbers found dead after summiting Mt. Whitney via treacherous route
Climbing down the final 400 in snowy conditions usually requires ropes, crampons and ice axes
because a fall on slippery terrain that steep would be almost impossible to stop.
A falling climber who missed the notch on the way down might hurtle thousands of feet down a terrifyingly steep face.
Details are still scarce on where, exactly, Niziol’s and Bolan’s bodies were found.

Pick up a rock. Pick up another rock and hit the first one with it and knock off a chip. Keep hitting the first rock, knocking off chips, until it looks like it’ll do for whatever it is you’re going to use it for. Whack it some more with a stick or antler to sharpen the edges, if you think it’ll help.
Show #Thag what you’re doing so he can try it.

How stone-age humans made hand axes.
Image showing steps for napping a rock to make a stone cutting tool, a hand axe. Pictures show different steps.
1. The process started with a large piece of rock.
2. The humans shaped the rock with stone hammer.
3. Using a hammer made of wood, stone or antler, they sharpened the edge.
4. They trimmed the edge by prying off tiny flakes with a pointed stick.
5. Finished hand axe, front view, side view.

A bit personal, living in right-wing world and not managing to put your life in order
In a right-wing society, a man's life is expected to follow two main axes (women have it even worse, but I'm going to talk of the gender that I experience first hand):
1. Education − finding a job − gaining experience and promotions − managing to retire.
2. Finding a girlfriend − marriage − having children − rearing children.
Of course, there are other expectations too: buying a car and house, but they can generally be derived from these two axes.
While, technically, the individual elements aren't limited to a specific age, usually you have to deal with them early enough. I suppose many people can confirm that — those who tried to learn a new language, supplement their education, find a better job late in life. But things can get worse.
You could lose your job and discover that our specific experience isn't worth uch. You end up competing for junior positions, with people who are young, healthy and ambitious; with people who don't have all your negative experiences and who can accept a smaller living wage.
You could notice that all your friends have already started their own families, and you didn't have anything even remotely resembling a relationship for over 10 years now; that you find it harder and harder to connect with anyone.
I think that's precisely what being #MADAO is: discovering that you're already (relatively) old and you didn't put your life in order, in time. Add being neuroatypical to that. The awareness that you no longer have the momentum that made it possible for us to overcome difficulties, even if we were only moving through the path of least resistance. Now not only this path is no longer available to us, but also we're being burdened with emotional baggage that makes it almost impossible to move.
And the right-wing society doesn't include a place for people who aren't moving across the only legitimate axis.

Y’ know what? One of the reasons I love bicycles is that they defy categorization the same way people do (and for some of the same reasons)
Mountain bike? Road bike? Oh yes the two genders.
Gravel bike. BMX bike. Commuter. Fat bike. Folding.
Most of the parts can be mixed and matched.
Brands just sell what they make usually. Generally kinda following the type but also fully making each mode and brand a little individual.
So what’s the difference between a gravel bike and a hybrid road bike? I could list a dozen subtle points but which a given bike has may well vary. All so very arguable and contextual. I love it. They’re just so inherently human systems. Deeply technical too, but in ways where it combines into axes of freedom rather than strict categories.

In case you have every wondered why a rotary broach is sometimes called a "wobble broach" this video of my latest rotary broach design on my mill may make it cleare. Note that the wobble is largest at the top, where by design the body wobbles 0.77mm each direction from the center of rotation, or .154mm total runout, at the top. The tip of the broach doesn't appear to wobble, because that is where the machine axis and the wobble axis meet.
0.77mm is because the axes diverge at 1°, and t…

WIP Code …

A sparse table with Y-N entries. Both axes of the table are structured: Horizontally, features such as "Arduino Features" are subdivided in a tree-ish shape. Vertically, boards are listed grouped by word size, architecture, CPU, with extra details on RAM and ROM.
The style of the cell separation clearly indicates that this is mostly HTML defaults the trademark shaded borders of <table border="1"> with minimal extra CSS.
