What’s a great example you love of a technical blog post (or similarly shaped writing) that:
- explains a tool, technique, technical idea
- by trying it to the author’s specific project or experience
- but also illuminates a larger concept, a bigger picture?
I don’t just want tutorials; I want writing that illuminates. I’m thinking of things where you read it and had a reaction like:
“Oh, FINALLY, I get it now!”
“What a nice example of _____!”
“This is great. I’m going to bookmark this for the next time I need to use / explain / teach a colleague to use _____.”
Looking for writing examplars to share with students. I want your favorites.

Anyone else noticing the new Mona jumps the timeline scroll position, thereby losing your place sometimes when you tap towards the bottom end of the timeline? (Seeing it on iPhone usually when I try to tap the bookmark icon on a post towards be bottom of the screen.)
I don’t have the auto-scroll on new posts feature on. This is very much in response to a tap.

woke from a dream of mentally drafting a toot about a book I just finished. I had started it yesterday, and had gone to bed with a bookmark halfway in it.
but then I realized, I had only finished reading it in the dream. the bookmark was still there.
so now I was in the interesting situation of being able to finish the book again, and then comparing the real ending with my imagined ending. I started mentally drafting a toot about that.

@… little feature request:
It would be really nice if we could drag a page tab and drop it in a bookmark bar folder or location, to add it there to the bookmark. Currently it seems you can do that with the address in the address bar, but if you try with the tab it just opens it in a separate window.. 🙏

I've been seeing more and more regular tech headlines that when I read em, my brain thinks, *what in the FUCK could I have just possibly READ just now*. So, then I bookmark em, so I can look at em like, yknow, probably never

One of the most useless search terms for Mastodon is the `in:library`. Yeah, I get it, everything I've interacted with. But I'd expect to only show stuff I bookmarked. I don't see a way to only search in my bookmarked posts. There are accounts where I favorited a *lot* of the posts but only bookmark one or two. No way to find them anymore :-/
I hope, there'll be more possible values to `in:` in the future, e.g. `favorites`, `bookmarks`, `replies`, `boosts`.

@… I'm glad to see this and will bookmark it. Since my distro is primarily X11, I can't use or even test it, but will keep it in mind.

This scroll-jump-when trying to bookmark a post bug in Mona 7 is really making the app unusable. Hold off on upgrading until there’s a fix.

You know that Firefox feature where bookmarks could contain a %s in the url somewhere and then the name of the bookmark could be used as a prefix in the address bar to quickly query some website? What's that feature called? Does it exist in Safari?

Anyone else randomly have their timeline jump when they try to bookmark a post in @… (latest version)?
I still can’t determine which way the timeline jumps or exactly when it happens but it definitely does often.
