I remember in particular one phone that used an •animated fire background• to indicated the currently highlighted menu item. It was just embarrassing.

alright im going through my old files again and rediscovered a shitty unfinished sci-fi epic poem thing i was writing sometime when i was 14/15/idfk. all i remember about it is that it was gonna keep doing this countdown and changing structure accordingly for a really long time, i was thinking of depicting the character finding love in an ethereal sorta way for the ending, and it was gonna incorporate a enochian number square for some reason.

Super Mario Odyssey: back to the sand
I got Mario Odyssey shortly after it launched - there was some special deal at The Game Collection, I seem to recall - and I played it for a bit. However, at the time I was still deep into Breath of the Wild, and the more expansive and cohesive nature of Odyssey (compared to the more discrete levels of Mario 64, or Mario Galaxy, say) meant that it felt just a little too similar to a large story game for me to keep going at it.

How different the world looks within split seconds sometimes, just from a slight breath of wind in the leaves or a flick of the wrist! Here exemplified by one of last year's corn flowers.

Okay, I took up the challenge to myself and installed Lubuntu. And this is absolutely a lxqt that I could live in. Did a minimal install, added flatpak (yes, yes, one 'apt install flatpak' away) and off you go. Ootb actually no snapd installed. Nice styling (arc-darqueske), 6.14 kernel , good experience. This can breath a lot of life into those October 2025 machines. Nice one 👍🏻

Last night (Fri night / Sat morning)I awoke at 01:30  with severe chest pains. I was convinced it must be a heart attack even though I’ve never had one and therefore really didn’t know.  I called 911 and woke Collette. EMTs and ambulance arrived within 5 min. Severe pain and severe shortness of breath. EKG was pretty normal.

Music and sound are not action -- at least, not normally. But sound can recenter you, rewire your brain, and let you catch your breath before that action. So I find myself returning to this eight-hour broadcast by London's Sister Midnight FM, which includes Palestinian artists who have long been featured on CDM, including Muqata'a, bint mbareh, and Dakn.

Some runs are trials of endurance. Tonight was less about physical or mental factors and more about overcoming environmental ones. Not really hot tonight (75°F/23.9°C) but the relative humidity was 93.5%. My point is I’m a sweaty mess and cooler seasons cannot get here soon enough.
Adding to my suffering, some animal died near one end of the track. Didn’t notice until I was underway. Every lap was an agony of decomposition. I reckon 1/3 of this run was with held breath. 🤢
