Working an unusual pattern of days this week and I can't decide if I like it. On the one hand I'm not knackered but on the other I don't get my usual block of four days off when I put my non-archaeology head on. I'm switching between states more which isn't always easy. Anyway, it means more chores get done during the week as I have the beans. Sparky is very confused but that's not unusual, love him. Tails takes it all in her stride as usual.

In the 8 hours we've been childless so far, I have: Played videogames, done some house chores I've put off for weeks, written a basic React webapp, learned about a new technology (Knative), inventoried our freezer, watched a movie, and taken a bath.
That's more than I get done in a week, easily.
The power has been unleashed.

#today I have done some admin chores, noticed that my journal paper has had one reviewer respond so far, and would really like to get back to my #research #3D building

However, children who regularly do household chores are so rare we had to generate them with AI

#today I have caught up on some #research reading that has been glaring at me from open tabs for a week or so, and there were some nuggets there. I have some admin chores and a meeting to chair this evening. Not much else.

#today I have done some admin chores (eg preparing for tomorrow's supervision at uni), and I am starting to gather some material to present over the next few days.
It rained overnight here, and is still steadily raining, which is a good thing. This is testing some of the anticipatory changes I made in my energy systems since way back in March/April!

well I made the new splice, and the pump came to life!!
But the controller is not responding to inputs 😢
It seems to be locked at 90% power.
I don't know if I have fried the controller so it is only partially working, or if this is still due to a poor connection through the extension.
When I was making the last splice, I was noticing that the extension cord wire is quite blackened. This could be preventing a good connection?
Well at least it is working and circulating again. I am going to find another extension cord to use and see if the wiring looks more pristine.

alright, job #1 for the day done -- dishwasher filled as much as possible (we can't do dishes in the sink due to a busted faucet pipe!)
job #2 -- update mastodon -- also done.

job #3 -- now to try again to splice in an extension line for the 2nd #poolpond pump. I'm apprehensive... feeling like it is probably not going to work and that I'm missing something else, or that the pump itself or controller has gone bad (due to my actions). I'm going to try to shorten the existing extension as much as possible in case it is something in the line or the length. If that doesn't work, I’ll use a brand new extension cord for the extension. I'm also nervous because the line I am extending is not long (thus the extension!) and I'm going to run out of cutting space at some point -- ruining the pump. : (
