The Feds keep saying "We did not" or "We will not" buy this or that empty warehouse for use as an ICE prison.
What they are hiding is that in order for a warehouse to be an ICE/CBP prison that the warehouse need not be "owned" by the Feds.
Rather the warehouse could be bought by a maga-friend, like Elon or Ellison etc and then leased to the government.
The Feds would not bey lying when they say they are not buying the warehouse. But they will …
add_health: Adolescent health (ADD HEALTH) (1994)
A directed network of friendships obtained through a social survey of high school students in 1994. The ADD HEALTH data are constructed from the in-school questionnaire; 90,118 students representing 84 communities took this survey in 1994-95. Some communities had only one school; others had two. Where there are two schools in a community students from one school were allowed to name friends in the other, the "sister school".
I’ve had this contingent of the language police show up in my replies a few times now over the word “cosplay,” and look…
OK, I get it, I get the instinct to say “Don’t drag me into this!” and I applaud the effort to push fascists out of communities, yes to all that…
…and also we need to recognize that what ICE is doing absolutely •is• cosplay. The word means “costume play.” It refers to assembling and wearing costumes that are not necessarily functional, but show affinity for a particular subculture by reproducing characters from that subculture’s popular narratives.
ICE are cosplaying Call of Duty. That is an accurate description of what’s happening. (Listen to “Gear.”)
I make software and I make music. I don’t think either one of those things •should• be about violence. I don’t •want• them to be about violence. But both are used in the service of violence, like it or not. I shout the violence out whenever it shows up. But would be ridiculous for me to point at what Palantir does and say “That’s not software!” Unfortunately, it •is• software. To deny that would be beyond self-defeating; it would be irresponsible.
ICE •is• doing cosplay, and we hate it. It’s an insult to the cosplay subculture. It is an insult to the whole of humanity. Fascism creeps into all of our spheres, into every beloved craft and community, and the response is never to pretend it’s not there. The response is to drive it out.

Abstract: Radiance field-based rendering methods have attracted significant interest from the computer vision and computer graphics communities. They enable high-fidelity rendering with complex real-world lighting effects, but at the cost of high rendering time. 3D Gaussian Splatting solves this issue with a rasterisation-based approach for real-time rendering, enabling applications such as autonomous driving, robotics, virtual reality, and extended reality. However, current 3DGS implementations are difficult to integrate into traditional mesh-based rendering pipelines, which is a common use case for interactive applications and artistic exploration. To address this limitation, this software solution uses Nvidia's interprocess communication (IPC) APIs to easily integrate into implementations and allow the results to be viewed in external clients such as Unity, Blender, Unreal Engine, and OpenGL viewers. The code is available at https://github.com/RockyXu66/splatbus.

End fracking and LNG expansion
Beyond a petition — become part of a community for change.
The B.C. government needs to end fracking and liquified natural gas (LNG) expansion now. We know that consistent, concerted pressure from as many people as possible moves decision-makers, and our aim is to make it easy for tens of thousands of people to raise their voices together.
Sign the petition and join the collective people-powered movement to end fracking and LNG in B.C.
And yet, there is a strange paradox in all of this. My home, the community that nourishes me taking the place of the religious communities my ancestors lost, is that same anarchist one.
Going to anarchist spaces always feels like home. It always feels like I'm among "my people." It feels safe. It's a safety and a familiarity that I don't find outside, in the "real world."
