Attached: 2 images My old 19" LCD monitor from ages back is finally dying, so I had to splash out and buy a replacement. I don't have the space for a CRT, so I wanted another flat panel. I thought I'd have to go second hand again but to my delight discovered there are NUMEROUS "security" monitors you can get that have modern (if cheap) IPS display, usable 4x3 resolutions and inputs for AV, BNC and VGA! This one seems decent, and didn't cost that much. Going to experiment more with it tonight …

So, figured I'd "fix" the mono output from the JVC TM-H150C CRT monitor by grabbing the Sony speakers off the PVM-2530 and attaching them to an amp. Works perfectly as the speakers are shielded and barely fit onto the second shelf. I officially have stereo sound for the smaller TV.

A set of Sony APM-X5A speakers connected to a cheap Pyle stereo amp. The SCART breakout cable's RCA audio outputs go into the amp, and the RGB connectors go into the back of the JVC CRT. The screen is showing Final Fantasy 6 being played on the MiSTer beside it.

They’ve got a giant Stranger Things Christmas Tree at Waterloo Station, made partly of CRT TVs.
(Except, obviously, they’re just flat flat screens inside a bulky shell.)

Only using a CRT and playing from VHS gives you the rich analog sound and picture that the filmmakers intended.
I’m hearing and seeing so many details that get lost in the digital harshness of Ultra HD Blu-ray.

I've been using multiple high resolution displays since the first non-passthru GPUs offered multiple outputs (heh, VGA or DVI) and WIndows 98 supported it properly.
Used to be the longest part of enabling/disabling external monitor support on a laptop was waiting for the CRT to warm up. Now, on my W11 laptop docking station it takes a full 20-25 seconds to change modes to multi-desktop. That's ridiculous. I know the things that happen (usb device enumeration etc.) but that'…
