It’s been 3 years that I’ve been with my current employer as of tomorrow.
Time flies. I know this position will help when I move to the U.K. because I’ve learned a lot in a very high-stress and physically demanding role.
Thank you to @… for being my listening ear this last few years. You have helped me to not quit.

Japan’s answer to seasonal allergies: A subsidized tropical escape
Spring is a miserable time for millions of Japanese.
One of them is Naoki Shigihara, whose hay fever symptoms make it difficult to focus at work.
Luckily for him, his employer, an IT company called Aisaac, offers a “tropical escape” program, allowing employees to work remotely from other parts of the country with low pollen counts.
It even offers to subsidize the temporary relocation to the tune of…

One of the advantages of having stock in your employer is you get to see annual reports, which has little gems like the CEO to median employee payment ratio.
To be clear, I *like* our CEO and think he's doing a good job. Our ratio is also not unusual for businesses of our size and age, AFAIK.
But if you want to know why the country is going to hell, that little ratio tells you everything you need to know.

Let’s remember that Ilya Shapiro is paid by the same rightwing billionaires who pay Thomas and Alito and the Fed Soc.
Paul Singer bribed Alito, and runs Shapiro’s employer Manhattan.
Shapiro is just as corrupt as the Supreme Court. The money even comes from the same place.

Ilya Shapiro is paid because he’ll say stuff like this.

If he had opinions that didn’t support billionaires, they’d cut off the money spigot.

It’s corruption. Indirect, but still corruption.

Good Morning #Canada
Today, February 29th, gives you 1,440 extra minutes this year. Gaining a full day every 4 years should help you finish some odd jobs around the house. I know that I'll be working on some things that, back in 2020, I put off until the next leap year. Wife is not impressed.
But do you get paid for this extra day by your employer? Maybe but doubtful. February 29…

Mildly amused at how I took the job at my current employer, in part, to avoid the red tape of working for a megacorp.
Instead, I get to go through new-contractor onboarding for megacorp *clients* every time I do a project for such a customer that I haven't worked for before / recently enough.
Why go through security awareness or anti-harassment training when you start a new job, or once a year, when you could do it every few months instead?
