From my LinkedIn post: “Telling your dev team to use AI coding tools is like telling your 2010 ops team to use AWS. They didn’t know how to code, they were ticket and click-it VMware people… developers who don’t have product management mindset or have never managed a dev team will fail by trying to micromanage the output of the tool rather than specifying the outcome of the product and managing the agent team to deliver that outcome.”

In the hands of someone like Trump,
deals are ways to evade, postpone or subvert the efficient work of markets.
Trump does not like markets,
precisely because they are impersonal and objective.
Their results – for corporations, entrepreneurs, investors and shareholders – are subject to clear measures of success and failure.
Because deals are personal, adversarial and incomplete,
they are perfect grist for Trump’s relentless publicity machine,

Twice in the past week, I’ve received an edit notification about a post I’d previously boosted where the edit corrected bad or incomplete information. In both cases, I boosted the correction.
I’ve long wished for social media misinformation policy to be “If you saw the bad info, you see the correction.” Mastodon comes closer to that than anything I’ve previously encountered.
There’s been a lot of theoretical hand-wringing about allowing edits on social media. In practice, this aspect at least seems like a huge success.
We had the pleasure of presenting at FIRST.org 2025, showcasing the Vulnerability-Lookup and GCVE.eu initiatives.
Slides are now available.

I know there’s lots of upsides and downsides to cloud hosting, but I think my biggest problem with it is that it is all built on a mountain of leaky, incomplete, and dysfunctional abstractions.
Even Kubernetes is full of them, which is why we keep getting new layers on top (see KRO, for example).
And the various cloud providers are much worse.
“Just one more layer of abstraction, bro, that’ll fix it!”
The issue with abstractions is that when one is faulty, every layer…
