Correction! It actually is still possible to export from Paper but not by using the export button. Instead you can export from the journal view so I now have it all as a PDF at least!
Still going to try to find a replacement though!
Having discovered that 2025 marked the 10 year anniversary of my return to the indie web, I've spent the last six months making small, incremental improvements in just about every part of my web life.
Felt like the right thing to do, on the final day of the year, to write something about these little side quests: #IndieWeb #HappyNewYear #Blogging
I have been using Nebo and Paper. Nebo has the best handwriting input I’ve ever seen, got bought and it seems like I can get my data out of it so I’m doing that now. Paper got bought by Evernote and I can’t even export my existing pages. I struggle with RSI but can still use a pen most of the time so these apps are a literal game changer - or rather, they were.
Seems like both my iPad-with-pencil input apps have been bought by other companies so that’s probably Not Good (TM) Does anyone have recommendations for either handwriting input or sketchnoting ipad apps that are one-time payment and don’t require internet connection at all times? Bonus points for supporting NextCloud for sync!

Which leads to the question why a project to register intellectual property even needs millions which then may be stolen?

That is one very specific interpretation of RSS. I follow people's feed for a good reason and I do actually want to see that they wrote something and how much and what I have seen and what not.

Nic Chan tells a familiar story and hits on one of three lessons I’ve learned in this scenario:
1. No discounts (project fees are different);
2. Very clear and tight scope with full-price out-of-scope rates;
3. Some clients are just a poor fit.

Looking back at January, I am watching **way too much** YouTube, particularly Shorts 😬 I also haven't touched my feed reader in *months*!
Let's see what happens in Feb if I delete the YouTube app on my phone, and reorder my apps so that Reader is where it was 🤞

You see - THIS is Mastodon. You'd never get that on Tumblr.
Bravo, Tam, bravo!

We need more folks who understand POSSE and why it's crucial to a) personal digital sovereignty, b) functional open (democratic) societies, and c) a free and open Internet: Publish on your Own Site, Syndicate Elsewhere.

Might sound really geeky but I just managed to syndicate my indiekit/Cloudron tutorial to https://news.indieweb.org by just selecting a syndication target from the indiekit UI backend, still a few things to iron out but I can now select from two “Indienews” targets for either French or English section of the news ag…

Device hoarding: still using the last phone ever made to fit a woman’s hand or pocket.
I’d spend a lot more on technology and gadgets if I were the target market for any of them.

Guys, I thought we agreed that once he got the fuck outta office I wouldn't have to hear this dickhead's name any more?

For anyone else also looking, another useful key phrase is "Master Scenario Events List" or MESL. This is for operations based games. For small group disaster prep, official MESL could be useful (if you can get them) to give you an idea of where you could (or may need to) fill gaps.

My colleague set me up for success by telling me that the big event we do in a reasonably warm country? Is in a venue with Arctic level Aircon.
Genuinely taking care of the base of the pyramid of needs here.
I’m at #APIDays in Paris this week and it is such a trip to be meeting people I’ve worked with for so long in the API space but never met, or not seen since the beforetimes. Community means so much, and my heart is so full right now (yes I know there are a few of you I didn’t find yet, I’m looking for you!)
That was a fun surprise! The Dutch government based one of their API tools on my Apitapviz library and I just found out when it was mentioned in a talk I’m attending today #APIDays
I am greatly amused to see it's time for some announcements about funding for trains in the north again. No need for actual trains or anything, the announcements are the only thing running to timetable.
Oh this really was fun, Scalar's interactive API docs on a FastAPI deployment is making me wonder if we should just use this for the workshop rather than trying to switch people over to use the Postman collection I made (also it's an Enterprise audience, and I already know that some of my attendees are not allowed to use Postman).
I enjoy LLMs the most when they are augmenting my existing skillset. I've lost count of how many demo APIs I've built with FastAPI for workshops but Claude built this one, configured it for deployment to Railway (a first for me), wrote the mildly amusing sample data I wanted, and switched to Scalar for docs with no fuss.
While I carry on with content I actually wanted to cover without getting bogged down in the details of the demo that's only there to let the attendees try some skills!
I needed to replace* my lovely extra long yoga mat and I’ve been angry for a week that I can only buy longer mats (I’m 178 cm tall, most mats are about 180) that are also wider. My new cute blue mat got delivered today in time for my class and … actually it was great. The extra width means less shuffling between poses for long limbs.
* the top layer unstuck from the bottom layer and stuck to itself instead to create a sort of curly lettuce effect, after years of loyal service!
Git has not blown my mind on this scale in many years. What a way to do Friday.
What I didn't internalise before I radically restructured this monorepo is that it has some boilerplate documentation with small but crucial changed placeholders in each project. The rename detection is scattering the files around like confetti on every operation.
**Todo : **
1. Make sure webmentions and syndication data is displayed on all post types
2. Do more testing of indieweb interactions on mobile/desktop
3. Audit security of indiekit fork & developed extensions
4. Fix the issues with pictures not displaying on photo post type
5. Fix the access to profile metadata for indieauth/indielogin
6. Add rel-me for mastodon/blueksy
7. Keep improving indiekit-microsub
8. update PR with new indiekit-mic…
Spent my morning pairing with Claude because I had to make probably-similar-but-not-identical changes to 73 repositories. Starting with analysis, planning and reviews which was so much easier at scale with assistance. My successful workflows are the ones where I think about how to keep myself in the loop, and I review/edit everything before I run it - but ask for review and feedback as I go. The scripts are a mess but it’s disposable code so as long as it’s readable, that’s fine!
Très content de mon nouveau site / CV / blog
