So how long until the Firefox logo becomes another AI company logo that looks like a butthole?

Anthony Enzor-DeMeo says he thinks there’s room for another browser, even an AI browser — as long as you can trust it.

#POTUS47 pledged in his 2024 campaign that there'd be no new wars. Anyone with any sense realized this was an empty promise.
Less than a year after taking office, it looks like he's at least posing to go to war with #Venezuela. I don't see anything remotely justifying a US war against…

Itch.io bundles are always a great deal and (like this one) support important causes.
You'll find like 10 new videogames or zines or solo RPGs that you never would have encountered otherwise that are really cool.
Looks like this bundle is set to go live November 28 with applications still live through November 21.

Ghost in the friendly and interactive shell (fish):
I removed a `set -x VARNAME ...` line from my fish config.
Spawning a new shell still had that variable.
I ran `set -e VARNAME`. For the current shell, it's gone.
Spawning a new shell again, I got it back. What..?
Okay, so I closed _all the fish instances_.
And the damn env var came back *again*!?!
Looks like that's because it's my login shell.
A fresh login session no longer had it.

It looks like #Bitchat might be gathering some traction in Gaza?
As a reminder, bitchat is a mesh network using your phone's bluetooth. So even without internet, you could have private messages sent from phone to phones.
Gaza having such a high population density and because Israel is known to have penetrated WhatsApp, this might be a good off-the-grid solution

Wow, seems the people farmers of surveillance capitalism have fully embraced scammer techniques now.
Ran into this new flow on a number of sites just now (Indiewire, Variety, and RollingStone) delivered by the colossal douchebags at html-load.com who run report-error.com.
They make it look like a browser error has occurred and then tell you to disable your tracker/ad blocker.
To the asshole developers who built this for them instead of refusing: Fuck you for making everyone…

But the new web aesthetic is non-linear. It encourages you to move from one site to another, to dive down rabbit holes, and crucially, to continue sharing what you find..

I had over three hundred accounts following me that I didn't follow back, mostly because I lost track of all the new followers.
So I did the unthinkable thing:
I asked Perplexity to write me a python script to follow everyone back. I will just unfollow some of them later, if I don't like them enough. But for now, everyone gets the benefit of the doubt.😉
The script needed some adjustments, but it worked.
Here's the script if you need it:

I spend a lot of my teaching life helping students learn to use Git, and I cannot emphasize enough how hostile the user experience of a merge conflict is for a new user. It looks like everything is broken. The terminology is crap. The verbiage is bamboozling. The default actions are all booby traps. The most important information is buried. The UI is terrible (both CLI and most GUIs). It’s incredibly easy to accidentally commit the conflict markers. It’s a nightmare.

Decided to wear my Skmei watch today as my main Casio I have the band off at the moment. Story of that is I got a new band that is a two part nato strap only for it to not fit on my Casio. Its a bummer but I am thinking to get a one part nato instead that would fit.
If anyone has any recommendations on nato straps that are good that would be helpful.
