The most common strategy for "AI-proofing" your career is to get good at using AI tools.
This is futile, because no one is using AI tools to make things that are *good.* The goal is to check the box on the project plan at a predictable pace. As long as the box is checked, quality is not a factor.
To AI-proof your job, get out of the project game.

You can't "AI-proof your career" with a project mindset
Competing with LLMs on output velocity is a fool's errand because you will always lose. You can only beat them by curing yourself of your computer brain.

Modern use of LLMs often involves giving them access to the local system: to read and write your project files, and to execute arbitrary commands, often unsupervised. So aren't people worried about a harness just doing what a remote #LLM tells it to do?
I think a statement I've heard lately summarizes the mindset well. It went something along the lines "I can't give you 100% guarantee, but I've noticed that LLMs are very good at following instructions, and they're getting better and better, so I don't worry about that anymore".
Like, it is completely fine to introduce a humongous security hole, because the probability that a model will *accidentally* do something horrible is decreasing.

Okay I know everyone hates this article but there's a nugget of truth in it. One of the possible futures we can gun for is this.

Make things. Make _personal scale_ things. The tools help bridge the truly high barriers we've managed to put in in the tech industry.
This will have a lot of problems! We don't have collective knowledge for this yet / again. The people with Sysadmin Mindset have been burned out or subsumed into the Cloud Computing machine.
But there's a chance here to take the web better places. We should take it.
(If you're worried about everything turning into paying to rent access to a digital landlord, I have bad news about where we've been since 2012.)

One of the more toxic elements of the whole "manosphere" thing relative to dating is the application of game theory to relationships. They've got people trying to "maximize their dating potential" or whatever, trying to find the "most attractive march" (which is it's own fucked up thing I'm not even going to dig in to). But that whole mindset is basically going to always leave you miserable.
Oh, you're single? You need a partner. Oh you have a partner? Could you get a "better" one?
It turns relationships into the endless pointless grind of capitalism. Fuck that. None of that shit makes sense. No matter how "well" you do in that game, you always feel like a loser. Everyone does. Fuck that game. Quit.
The constant desire makes you miserable and your misery makes you unlikable. When you let go of it, you leave room to experience what is instead of constantly imagining what could be.
You will always be able to imagine a better "could be" than what is now. By comparing your situation now to that "could be" you will always see your situation as bad because it's worse than your yardstick.
Is your situation good for you? Is it serving you? It can be good and it can also be possible to make it better. When was the last time you just experience your life instead of trying to strategize your way into "something better."
Throw away the yardstick. Something something Buddha.
Edit: all this is of course aside from the whole objectification thing, which is it's own whole set of fucked up. But yeah... All that shit is real bad news.
