Bei manchen Tools muss ich erst CTRL . oder CTRL L (keine Ahnung wann welches) wählen, bevor ich einen Pfad im Dialog (entpacken, speichern, öffnen) einfügen kann. Unter Windows funktioniert in 99% der Fälle einfach CTRL V und enter

@… You should find plenty of Linux people here. I started with Ubuntu began to feel a bit 'heavy'. I tried Mint for awhile, it's OK. Now I've moved onto Antix and it's much lighter on its feet. I even run it regularly on an old netbook.

On W10 going EOL: It might seem cold but with how many times I've told people I know to look into Mint with encouragement on learning the habit of using FOSS software wherever you can and just getting told something along the lines of "I'll see how everything works out" only to see them still have everything on W10 a few weeks later, I think I'm just gonna sit back with my bucket of popcorn and wait for the fireworks. Wow, ich hab's wirklich geschafft mir den kuriosesten Fehler in Linux Mint zu basteln. Starte ich ein Video in der Nextcloud (oder teils woanders) stoppt nach 1 Sekunde das Video, aber Audio läuft. Wechsel ich von den Desktop Speakern auf das Headset, laufen Audio und Video synchron.
Das erst mal merken...

With all Gentoo, Nix, Slackware, FreeBSD shizzle (and I love it) I can tell you nothing beats the ease and completeness of Linux Mint.
Just installed LMDE 7 beta and it's amazing.
Any day of the week us geeks have to recommend this, once it is out of beta, to newcomers in Linux.

Let me convince you to grow anise hyssop (Agastache foeniculum). The flowers, which looked nicer last week (and on the plants I just harvested), are bright purple and are favorite of bees. But, IMHO, the leaves are the best part of the plant. Used fresh or dried they add a sweet anise flavor to black tea and they make really great ice cream too (akin to mint).

@… I've been very happy with Mint since I switched from Windows in 2024. It works very well and is fairly customizable. It's also not a difficult transition from Windows. I found Ubuntu to be not as satisfying. I've also tried Zorin, but prefer Mint, because it is more customizable, at least for me.

Windows laptop is so gummed up it's taking minutes to react to simple search in the directories. And I can only conclude onedrive is the issue here, possibly also #EndOf10? I have disconnected the wifi while I try to run the backup.

@… Xia is just the release name; Cinnamon is the desktop environment. Xia is Mint 22.1. You probably should be using Mint 22.2 (Zara).

Teenager has just suggested some of the programs, which I was under the impression were via the browser, may need to be on desktop.

@… I haven't used FydeOS, but I've got a Surface Pro 3 that has run a few Linux distros. Right now I'm using Mint. Works quite well. If you do a search using your favorite search engine, you'll find lots of stories as to how to do this. Fyde looks too limited to me.
