Finally got around to replacing MacOS on my ten year old MacBook Air with Linux Mint Xfce. It installed fine, then I did an update from the 6.14.x kernel to the 7.0.x kernel and... kernel panic.
I had to boot the installer again and spend more than an hour messing around in the command line to go back to the older kernel, then mark it so it will never update it again.
Ahh, Linux... you sure know how to welcome someone back to the fold!

Well this japanese frying pan was a good investment. Integrated thermometer to keep a look on the oil's temperature. Cooking a Greek dish here (meatballs with mint)

At this moment, in our small garden, the cherries are finishing, the raspberries are yielding bucketloads, and the strawberries are just starting. The parsley has gone to seed and the mint and oregano are just flowering, and the various chives and garlicky things have seedheads.
However, the slugs appear to be munching all the mizuna seedlings - I'm hoping the hedgehog will help with that. We did have a frog for a while but I think they've left.

MX Linux seems to be a very polished product in the sense that a lot of work has clearly gone into it - and into trying to make it pretty friendly. At least compared to how things used to be. On the other hand it also very much feels like late 90s Linux where everything is cobbled together from all kinds of bits and things are named after application names rather than features. You know what's the problem with Linux Mint? It's so damn good.
Apparently yesterday's update borked sth in my Slackware Current. SDDM and then everything stops, usb mouse and kb dead, radio or bluetooth. Look at it later.
Made an LMDE iso, booted with that and start salvaging some files, prior to surgery. Has always worked.
Because I have this Gentoo project to finish 😝

No photo cos it's all gone. Home made pumpkin ravioli with a sauteed and steamed mix of aubergine, basil tofu, crunchy kale*, tomato, leek* and walnuts, flavoured with garlic, lemon zest, dill seed, and fresh mint*, lemon balm*, marjoram* and parsley*. And it was rather good, though I say so myself!

Weil ich hier neulich nachgefragt habe:
Linux MINT bringt tatsächlich Treiber für in Macintosh verbauten Broadcom WLAN Chips mit. D.H man kann das Installieren und WLAN geht sofort.
Bei viele anderen (meint *allen* die ich alternativ probiert habe) sind die Treiber nicht dabei, sodass man kein WLAN hat. Die Treiber sind ausserdem notorisch kompliziert zu bekommen. (Ich hab es nicht geschafft und halte mich nicht für voll blöd)

I'm travelling so light on this trip that the only things left in the bag of cables (while I charge things overnight) are a hair tie, a mint, two USB adapters and the 2 spare AAA batteries.
.... I no longer have any devices that take batteries. The last were my clicker and my keyboard, and they are both rechargeable ones in their current incarnation. Guess I'm travelling even lighter on the next trip!

Of note, I've started indexing my LLM harness session histories in Arcaneum to help me identify and refine repeated workflows which I then mint as skills.
The result is starting to look like a state machine. At some point I'll document the whole research through ideation through design and then implementation phases.
This is a very high human touch model compared to what i'm reading about from other devs.
