I'm asserting now that Github has crossed the event horizon into Enterprise Software. Complex enough that any bug is your fault for not reading the right docs and flipping the right configuration flags. The experience will keep getting worse. - While the "mini" part of minirack might be debatable for this build, the footprint of my Proxmox cluster has become miniscule when compared to the size of three full-sized ATX builds.

Backing up the image on the MS-A2's SSD via Clonezilla. It's so nice plugging in the IODD ST400, booting off of the Clonezilla ISO and also saving the NVMe image to the same device (the IODD ST400). It's not the fastest way of doing it, but it is very, _very_ convenient.

Just found out that an old intranet we initially created for a customer back in 2008-9 (on Drupal 4.7 or maybe 5, subsequently upgraded through to Drupal 6) is still running (not on the open internet). Their MS Sharepoint replacement for it has been... less than stunningly successful in its designated role.
I suspect that original Intranet, even inflation adjusted, would've cost the orders of magnitude less in up-front development and per-year maintenance.

Update on the minirack: it looks like the Minisforum MS-A2s have cleared customs maybe. UPS isn't 100% sure what's going on from the look of the tracking information considering they have them clearing customs two months ago before they were shipped. However, I'm thinking they'll be here in a week or so and I can finally get them installed and cabled up.

New shelves came in, went ahead and pulled the shorter ones out, installed the full length ones, installed the supports, and cleaned up the power cables. Also adjusted the hooks on the back so they make a bit more sense.

In one of the more painful purchases I've done in a bit: just ordered 3 kits of Crucial DDR5 RAM for the MS-A2 servers. This will take them from 32GB -> 96GB which should work out a bit better for Proxmox. Unfortunately, my wallet is crying. If everything goes well, the RAM should get here just before the servers do.

This should be the last minirack post for awhile as it's 99.9% finished. It was a very fun build, and it's a heluva-lot quieter than what it replaced. I did lose network bandwidth, but the new cluster does exactly what it's supposed to. Live migrations are fast enough, iSCSI network means that the VMs are snappy storage-wise. The PiKVM Switch fits perfectly in the basement.
