my Social app installation in #Nextcloud is giving a strange error:
Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at wss://nextcloudpi/push/ws.
My config defines a proxy for ws:// and the notify_push:self-test checks ok as does systemctl status, but a grep of the app/social code shows js mentions of wss:// - I also notice the dashboard also logs these errors, likely because Social is active? or because my systemd adds --allow-self-signed?
I tried modifying the ProxyPass to wss: to no avail, double checked installed modules and the reqs from the notify_push git page. I did find mention that wss is the secure version, only recommended where NC and NP are on different machines, which they are not.
maybe it is benign? My only symptom so far is nothing goes out, and nothing comes in to @… and one of these days I'm going to figure out why!

For folks considering converting their #Nextcloud database from MariaDB (or MySQL) to PostgreSQL: it is possible, there is a built-in tool, but there are also some bugs and gotchas along the way. Our Nextcloud DB has millions of records and takes hours to convert, so the try->find bug->clean DB or patch tool->clean target->try again cycle has now taken up three days of two Byobu screens. …

Achtung #Nextcloud User. Scheinbar wurde die Nextcloud .com-Domain übernommen. Dort fand sich zeitweise Information von "cloudbox", nun ist die Site ganz down.
Obwohl Updates über GitHub statt die Website laufen, wäre ich mit Updates in den nächsten Tagen vorsichtig.
Offizielle Informationen konnte ich noch nicht finden.

what's the official way of updating App Images on Linux? The NextCloud client updates so often and always going to the website, downling and then replacing the old client is somehow cumbersome. Am I missing an automatic update process? Something like 'apt dist-upgrade'

@… won't get this but I do believe those #Nextcloud wss:// errors are mere warnings, however when I look at the console errors (which include the wss) I notice Social fails to read outside profiles from #mstdnca although I can see the profile on my local pixelfed and both social and pixelfed show these following each other, but even the local pixelfed gets no posts, and social sees the profile from pixelfed but no posts or messages.

So I am the only dweller in my home the coming week, and I become so incredibly bored when I am alone - I hate it.
Anyway, this is what I have done during the last 6 hours:
- Fixed the leaking toilet
- Fixed the damaged toilet seat
- Almost migrated my Nextcloud server
- Started to migrate my Matrix Synapse server
- Rebuild some furniture in order to hide the router (Wife Approved)
- Installed OpenHop (Meshcore) on my raspberry pi with a MeshADV hat

Für einen Verein wollten wir ein externes Nextcloud mit einem OnlyOffice DocumentServer ergänzen, um gemeinsames Bearbeiten von Dokumenten zu ermöglichen. Dabei stellt sich heraus, dass die aktuelle Version (9.4.0) in diversen Browsern absolut unbenutzbar ist, weil dort AdBlocker die notwendige "Analytics.js" blockieren. Der Bug ist bekannt und die Funktion wurde entfernt, aber es gibt immer noch kein Release. Der Fix entfernt 700 Zeilen Code in 65 Dateien:

Do we have any nextcloud-like webUIs but that work for filesystem folders and stuff?
Nextcloud is really bad at loading external libraries, specially those with large amounts of files, and I use it only with external libraries. Plus, it's quite annoying to maintain since I need ro run nextcloud-occ commands every update. I just want something that lets me upload, download move files around and stuff, I don't really use most of other nextcloud features (precisely because of too much lock-in). Plus working well on mobile devices so I can upload stuff from my phone. Having the ability to integrate with Collabora/LibreOffice Online would be great, but I was never able to get that or OnlyOffice to work anyway.

Content warning: lamenting yet another tech disappointment
Ok, major major stupid flaw in #jellyfin and looks like the only solution is wipe clean the entire dB and reinstall … every time you make an outside change?!
And starting from scratch means copious mislabeled items. It will take me weeks to fix television shows. Admittedly I chose Jellyfin because it appeared to work well sharing legacy files and folders with Nextcloud, and I loved the big-screen apps. It was fun, until I noticed …
But I can't spend my life re-entering metadata, and the family just laughs at the brokenness.
How, no, why on earth would a competent programmer throw an uncaught exception and abort because a file to be deleted has already been removed, or simply renamed? What is the business case for such? Why make an archive write-only, no deletes, no renames, no moves?
Is there a less fragile alternative?

Happy to report a successful upgrade day, with both #Jellyfin 12.0 and #Nextcloud doing the upgrades without incident, although I have hit the threshold where NC upgrades can only be done with updater.phar from a command line.

one very annoying feature of #Nextcloud that I would dearly love to turn off. this dashboard widget is flooded with these System Tag messages that give no useful information even if I did care, and of course swamps all the interesting activity.

En tanx to een VPN gaat dat zelfs lukken. Zo'n jachthaven weet dat eigenlijk aardig te beperken. 😇
