Nextcloud ist leer und OpenCloud habe ich abgeschaltet und werde es wohl demnächst auch löschen.
Größte Auffälligkeit: Im Gegensatz zu OpenCloud und Nextcloud gab es nicht einen einzigen Sync-Konflikt beim hochladen (so, wie ich es auch erwarten würde).
Dazu ist das ganze noch deutlich performanter als Nextcloud. Im Grunde ist die Plattenperformance mein Limit.

the nextcloud website has you download some appImage file that I have no idea how to use.
also nextcloud on kubuntu was slow as ass. settings pane took 30 seconds to open.

Then I noticed PullRequest-5 - not knowing at all what I was doing - so I installed gh, authorized it, did the pull, composer, run sequence, and while the existing open tab for Social continued as before, 'Social' was now gone from the NC admin and menu!

Update: es läuft vermutlich auf eine Evaluierung (und Test-Betrieb) der Angebote von Hetzner und hosting.de raus. Danke für eure Rückmeldungen.

If you don't know NextCloud, it's the self-hosted Dropbox alternative. And when I say self-hosted, actually I'm using it as-as-service from the excellent humans over at @… . So it's more like "choice-hosted" or something

I then remembered my free Nextcloud account at Tab Digital and ... there's an IMAP client. Added my work calendar as well, so I can quickly get an overview. I wish I could hook up my Filen storage to Nextcloud, as I already have documents there. It may be possible, but if it is, I haven't found where to do it yet.

Both applications store their secrets in a gnome-keyring which didn't get unlocked because there was no password prompt on "Switch to desktop", so I was pestered every time with two different prompts for unlocking the same keyring, none of which I could just dismiss in favor of the other.

@luana@wetdry.worldHmmm ok, already don’t like one thing about Nextcloud: icloud-photos-downloder is able to save screenshots with a “Screenshot” tag on the used lenses. Nextcloud doesn’t do this, which honestly will make filtering(out) screenshots on Immich a pain in the ass
Edit: oh and apparently it saves them without timezone data
And when a file errors it says it’ll try again but doesn’t and then doesn’t ever send anything else unless you clear cache. Ugh this’ll suck…

I’m now using only external libraries on immich, one for those and one for auto upload. For the auto upload, I’m trying using nextcloud to upload to an external folder that’s also imported on immich as an external library, let’s see if that works.
Nextcloud doesn’t seem to be actually removing the metadata from the videos, that was just a handful of old videos that seemingly lost their metadata when my father duplicated (maybe to take clips out of them? Idk) them.
