Here’s a niche gotcha with the clipboard API’s `navigator.clipboard.writeText()` method that’s unique to Safari:
If you access a function from a module within your gesture handler (e.g., click handler), you will get a permission error.
The (sadly hacky and not as robust) workaround is to set a global variable from your module instead.

Computer music institutions shouldn't really call a practice 'niche' just because they've ignored it up until now.

@… this is some niche one. In coal mine they used to call some tool for pulling stuff. A hook or something. It seems it comes from „zehfuß” but since now I checked and can’t find this word on Duden I can also guess my grandpa did make fun of me.

I see an untapped market in basically every red state, that strict anarchists/progressives won't tap into.
republicans who are dis-serviced by the GOP and willing to cooperate on niche issues.
case study: housing supply in utah.
there are loads of republican types (or people who are republican because the only viable candidates are)
who DEFINITELY see house prices in Utah as INSANE.

Pleroma
In Pleroma, you will take on the role of Diane Kestler, a youthful individual who has recently moved to a new part of town and is starting a new job at a niche art gallery / studio collective / research library which is (you guessed it!) hiding a rather surprising and unusual secret.

Kaikenlaisia niche aloja sitä onkaan jossa suomalainen firma on maailman harvojen alan toimijoiden joukossa. En olisi ikinä veikannut että tällainen firma on Suomessa, ellei olisi tullut vastaan Youtube-video jossa kerrotaan still- ja elokuvakameroiden vanhojen mutta optisesti korkealaatuisten objektiivien muokkaamisesta (ammattimaiseen) uusiokäyttöön moderneissa elokuvakameroissa. Tällaista tekee vain kourallinen firmoja, joista yksi Suomessa.
Any company wanting to help C development should consider adding an AI to summarize/analyze/interpret compiler errors 💡
Step 1: just summarize the reams of error messages.
Step 2: provide a brief list of likely causes for the error messages.
Step 3: suggest some corrective actions.
This is a niche and narrow purpose and is doable. And any C dev knows this is necessary.
Do it right and there'll be much interest to integrate w IDEs, even compilers.

there should really be regulation on standardising console accessories, it is really dumb that you can buy two racing wheels or guitar controllers or whatever other niche controller of the same model and one will only work on playstation and the other will only work on xbox despite them being the exact same hardware, some of those controllers can be like >1k you shouldnt be expected to buy two because you have two different consoles

Modern mature software can be inherently complicated. PostgreSQL is a deep RDBMS that has been under development since the 80s. Writing new code for that is hard, especially in C. I wonder if when the goggles finally turn out to just not be more viable as a product than a cool tech demo and for niche use cases, they’ll start to incorporate some of what they’ve developed into computer screens and phones.

One of my favorite things about Mastodon is the revival of all the niche, quirky, fun apps we had in the early days of Twitter. Cool to see someone reincarnate Birdhouse.

Drone weather apps are such a twisted niche. All of them do the same thing using different APIs and yet they can cost anything between 'two Starbucks coffees' and 'my mum's monthly budget'.
Meanwhile that one free weather app that does EVERYTHING contains no information how to support the author.
Does it have a touchscreen?
Power consumption?
Could it be the one-step-up-from-a-PDA niche product?
Hackable? Can you, e. g., upgrade the RAM and storage?
very general career advice: if you can identify something useful that you think is interesting and everyone else finds boring you may have a very solid niche on your hands

Thoughts? Are you surprised by this data?

I can't wait till Fedi opens certain floodgates.
Lots of niche topics and communities are non-existent here.
I try SO hard to engage in pro wrestling discussion here, but it just isn't happening like it is on other platforms.
On threads, in 4 minutes, Smackdown will most likely be Trending. Here, maybe 5 people will casually mention it throughout the show.
There's a lot to be desired here and I hope this new social movement changes things for the better.

This BlueSky bridge IS exciting. However, due to the ignorance of the "opt-in" brigade, I feel it'll be pretty much dead in the water besides with a select niche crowd.
Just like Threads, having to opt-in on an opt-out protocol is killing the usability of such good integrations.
This is why I keep thinking that Fedi won't get popular. Bad implementations like this, specifically wanted by ignorant users, will go unused.🤦♂️🙄
