Personal computers are a bicycle for our minds, therefore we ask the monster truck factory to think for us.

I'm passing this survey about names for the co-op to some friends... and every time they face a non-English sounding name... they all say this same phrase (with small variations):
> It doesn't sound **international** enough / at all.
Honestly... I find it quite sad. I know ultimately it doesn't matter what I think personally, we still need a good & catchy name (it's not in our hands to make people think differently)...
Anyway, I believe UK & American #imperialism have fucked our brains and removed so much creativity & freedom from our minds...
Note: this issue is disconnected from the specific names of our survey. I've seen it too with names of very successful projects (but unknown to the people I was talking to); for example with "Kubernetes".

“Canada did not sign the letter, Environment and Climate Change Canada confirmed to CBC News Friday.”
Canada is a problem.
A huge problem.
Our Prime Minister is in the Middle East instead of COP. That's all you need to know.
We're all so screwed right now... the world... all of us.
Our leaders in ‘developed' countries cannot extricate their minds from the Fossil Fuel industry and it's going to kill us all, or at least a very large proportion of us.

I hope no-one minds the occasional moment of self-promotion. We've all gotta pay the bills.

Hey Fedi, as a marketer I want to say: ALL OF YOU HAVE THE POWER TO INFLUENCE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT.
We can shape social movements and public opinion with the things we say. Communication CAN change minds and make improvements that feel “impossible” real and tangible. That’s how the right got as far as it did, with strong and consistent messaging.
Now, let’s be practical. HOW we talk about the events that happen matters as much as WHAT we talk about.
If we want to make a difference and mobilize people towards progressive stances while our democracy and freedom are under attack - we need to use effective language and messaging.
Don’t give airtime to conservative values and MAGA lies. Instead, appeal to the values we believe in and help shape the conversation in ways that benefit people like us who want a better future.
I’ll share some resources in the thread with actionable advice.

"Where will the von Neumanns, the Einsteins, and the Gödels of our age migrate after the SCOTUS overrules democracy in 2024 and Gödel’s Loophole is proven to exist? At this time, the two major powers of our time, the United States and China seem unlikely locations for brains to settle and grow in the long term."

If you are happy but have fewer than two friends who are happy, you get sad from loneliness. If you are happy and have two or three friends who are happy, you stay happy. If you are happy and have four or more friends who are happy, you get sad from overstimulation. If you are sad and have exactly three friends who are happy, you become happy.
What patterns are running on the interpersonal substrate of our minds and relationships, and how would it feel to be part of a glider gun?

Not a good look RCMP. But it sounds like in the main, they handled the situation ok even if they ran cover for a horrendous elected racist in Dallas Brodie.
Bravo to the people at UBC for making it clear that the agent-provocateur and hate-speech politician has no place, has no voice for her hateful rhetoric.
Residential school denialism *should* be a hate crime. The RCMP should be arresting Brodie, not protecting her hate propaganda tour.
Our Universities must be places of truth. Truths can be debated in context, but Brodie, like Charlie Kirk, isn't actually debating. No minds are going to be changed. No resolution found.
Dallas Brodie is only there to grab a headline and advance an extremist, regressive, and openly white supremacist agenda by advancing denialist views that dismiss truth and facts and calling it “anti-woke”.
