I’m at a Celebration of Life in honor of the late President Emeritus James J. Duderstadt.
There’s a lot of emeritus faculty here.

One pattern you can always count on: if you ever explain a technology by describing how the human and social aspects matter more than the obscure technical details, a certain cohort of dudes who are inept at socialization will lash out about their insecurities by trying to condescend. Who here thinks I wrote ~5000 words on Markdown but I don’t know what plain text files are?

Anil Dash might know about Markdown. but he doesn't seem to know about plain text files and TXT. which long preceded Markdown and are a key factor for making Markdown easier to adopt. comical reading his latest post about The Amazing Wonder of Markdown. like a kid going on about the musical genius of a pretty ordinary Taylor Swift pop song. cringe

The Ruby ecosystem is going through some pretty hefty turmoil in an attempt to rescue and restore the integrity of their community.
I’m even seeing some good efforts in PHP-land to better distance itself from the vacuum of stable leadership in WordPress too.
Is there any such movement in JavaScript (the same problems exist)? The biggest pattern I’m seeing is a *huge* centralization in project funding!

I'm standing by Trapper's Alley next to a wall covered in small posters.
