When they're showing you one word at a time, it becomes a tremendous effort not to miss a word. Understanding a sentence that is shown sequentially is so much more difficult than just seeing the whole sentence at once.

@jamesthebard@social.linux.pizzaOne of the things that is interesting doing mass encodes is verifying all of the little things that can just mess everything up. If you're pulling in stuff like 3rd-party subtitles, then you have to verify the timing of the subtitles and adjust as necessary. Even better, if those are SubStation Alpha subtitles, you have to verify if the style fonts get added as attachments to the MKV file.

It has great English subtitles. I loved the multilingual scene between Milady and the Duke. It's been very long since I've read the book (in Bulgarian). I wonder if it sounds so gritty in French (or in English) as the film is?
