So I did postpone watching the last two episodes of season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds almost 5 months ago. Something about the premise of the penultimate episode, "Terrarium", felt too derivative, and I forgot about the series. Now that I watched both episodes, I have to say, "New Life and New Civilizations" hit all the right notes on the theremin. SNW is indulging and beautifully crafted Trek.

Wow, serious rite of passage: my younger son playing his first lp... On our turntable unused for a decade or two, with a just-replaced cartridge... These speakers are also getting their first airing despite me having had them for years (gifted by a mate as excess to requirements)...

One of my VR Lighthouses died last month. These things are gyroscopically spinning 24 hours a day for, what, a decade now? Nearly.
No wonder. Mostly the industry seems to be settling on using head-mounted cameras rather than sweeping infra-red beams and receptors on the head anyway.
It is true that lighthouses give accurate positioning, but means I can't easily take the headset next door, say. Or to a party.
So inside-out, as they call it, is fine for the headset now and mostly okay for the hand-controllers.
But it offers no solution at all for the foot-trackers and hip-tracker that I need for puppetting the characters in the #vr #slimeVR #trackers
