Moving from one social media platform to another shows how unimportant you are.
This just came to my mind today when I posted one photo in my Instagram story where usually about 50-80 ppl watch it.
And after repeatedly telling that I'm moving away, almost noone followed. It was the same when I left Twitter.

Mastodon's the right model. But to be truly *useful* politcally - the Bluesky/Mastodonian idea of "we will make our safe space over here" might be pleasant for many and that's fine
But they're not healthy for useful political discourse, which is often ugly, but generates the necessary talk.

There are investigations linking specific no-name Twitter accounts with less than 30 followers as the source of Musk's and Trump's disinformed beliefs. We are able to trace Trump's conspiracy beliefs of the gold being stolen in Fort Knox to just some random account on Twitter claiming it.
