Contrast-Finder — Find correct color contrasts for web accessibility.
Opensource software and online tool for web accessibility.
There are lot of tools to find a good contrast on the web, but no one to suggest valid contrasts. Contrast-Finder is a tool which computes the contrast between two colors (background, foreground) and checks if the contrast is valid.

Part 3 - Moving forward
One of Mastodon's strengths is its decentralized structure. That also means no centralized marketing or development strategy focused on growth, particularly in Canada. Perhaps a volunteer group could take on that development plan and grow the Canadian user base.
- A vision of what an ideal future state would look like would benefit the planning and action steps. Collecting input from Canadian admins is recommended.
- We shouldn't burden existing admins beyond their current responsibilities. Volunteers would take actions like reaching out to politicians or government agencies.
Potential next steps:
1) Host a web meeting with interested Canadian admins to collect input on a shared vision for this project.
2) Collect volunteers who would be interested in reaching out to politicians or government agencies about creating a presence on Mastodon.
3) Select members of the group to be part of a steering committee.
4) Create a unique hashtag for this project for reporting and followers.

FYI all, portainer is giving away 3 node business licenses. #kubernetes support since the last time I visited their site, so I'm interested in checking how well that interacts with #talos.
Some of my #homelab machines currently just run a few containers in #docker_compose stacks for services my #homeassistant server is using like node red and I've been using #portainer for simple things like checking status or restarting things without having to ssh into those workers. Most of those containers are going to get migrated into my #k8s cluster, so it'll be interesting to see how well it works as a quick web interface.

Amazon investiert 50 Milliarden Dollar in KI-Infrastruktur für US-Behörden
Amazon Web Services will ab 2026 spezialisierte KI-Rechenzentren für US-Regierungsbehörden bauen. Die Investition umfasst 1,3 Gigawatt Rechenkapazität.
There have been numerous disgustingly fake 'nightscape' composites flooding the web where someone had merely pasted a deep astronomical image of comet C/2026 A6 #Lemmon into some landscape, making it look like it was a giant rivalling Ikeya-Seki oder West - oh, how I hated that. And what a relief that NOIRLab has now posted - https://noirlab.edu/public/images/iotw2549a/ - this beautiful and apparently unmanipulated picture of Lemmon over Mauna Kea on 12 November. Yes, it reached 3 point something mag. and had nice tails in the end but it was not a great comet by any means: just look how small and faint it appears next to the southern Milky Way!

Paperless-NGX has become the true successor to #DEVONthink 3 for me, which now focuses on AI and changed its payment model. The automatic document classification is impressively accurate. Container hosting makes self-hosting straightforward. If you want modern, intelligent document management that works cross-platform with full control,

This log entry always appears at the top of my cable modem's web view of the log. Every 36 hours, the timestamp changes. It's not new,. just the same line with a new timestamp.
It has been this way for years, I believe for the whole decade that I've had it, although its rock-solid regularity may have started with the last update (2019) or with some upstream behavior change. It is harmless (DHCP clients must tolerate unrecognized options).
And people wonder why I e…
🥳 New Kitten Release
• Reduces minimum Bash version requirement for installing Kitten to Bash 3.2 (was previously Bash 5 ). This removes the requirement for people on macOS to upgrade the ancient version of Bash that Apple ships with their desktop operating system. (If you’re on Linux none of this was ever an issue for you.)¹
• Updates runtime to Node 24.12.0, the latest long-term support (LTS) version.
Amazon announced an investment of up to $50 billion to expand AI and supercomputing capabilities for Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Perhaps one of my next projects is to set up a Mastodon instance (may be this one) on a cluster of 3 or more Raspberry Pi's. Still no exact imagination on how to distribute the different services in a meaningful manner. An example could be:
🖥️ Node Roles
pi-master: PostgreSQL, Redis, Reverse Proxy
pi-worker1: Web (Rails), Streaming
pi-worker2: Sidekiq, Web (replica)

Thank you all for 3,000 followers on here! Here’s a photo of Danny to celebrate the occasion ☺️
3 years into being part of Mastodon, I continue to be impressed with how wonderful the people here are and how much this social network actually FEELS social. People replying to one another, having conversations, learning things, sharing moments of joy, making friends.
Mastodon brought my business clients, helped me gain confidence in my own voice, freed me from dependence on big tech and algorithms, rekindled my interests, introduced me to incredible people and projects, and served as a source of hope in humanity in the times when cynicism and nihilism felt all but inevitable.
I love our little corner of the internet, and am so glad that it’s still here despite everyone who professed it was doomed to fade into irrelevance.
Thank you to everyone reading these words for being here on the Fedi. The world is a little better thanks to your choice to support an independent web.

As a back-end dev, developing https://kifuoku.com/, a web version of memorising and recalling Go kifu, has been a fun experience.
It's been like experiencing culture shock: I have to care about responsive layouts on multiple devices? fonts? logo?

Out of curiosity, I just watched the 3'39" video on the front of the Green Party web site, which turned out to be themed primarily on what it means to be "super rich". Really good video overall, I thought.
I especially wanted to highlight one phrase which stood out to me:
"Since the pandemic began".
A lot of people would have said "Since the pandemic" or "during the pandemic" - as if it were over now.
I'm thinking: _Someone_ on his team knows the difference. I'm not saying it's definitely ZP himself, I expect he takes input from colleagues on the speech-writing, but still. _Someone_ there knows the pandemic is still happening.
There's an allusion to air quality as well.
Thank you whoever that was!

So, that's the story: 1) PocketCast changed my lists into Smart Playlists. 2) PocketCast desktop/web doesn't support Smart Playlists. 3) Therefore, they made desktop/web unusable for me.
Great.
