Pół godziny czekania na przesiadkę? A może by tak się przejść na platformę widokową przed Twierdzą #Kłodzko? Na pewno nie pożałujesz włażenia tak wysoko, z tymi kratowymi kładkami i siatkowym płotem, które pozwolą ci docenić, jak bardzo wysoko jesteś, i tym silnym wiatrem, który zacznie na ciebie dmuchać jak tylko wyjdziesz zza narożnika.

Widok na miasto z góry. Z przodu kilka trzypiętrowych budynków z czerwonym, spadzistymi dachami. Pomiędzy nimi jesienne drzewa, w barwach żółci i zieleni. Dalej coraz mniej zabudowań, trochę płaskiego terenu z drogami i gęsty las w tych samych barwach. Za lasem pofałdowany teren, również mieniący się kolorami od brązu do zieleni. So far I've done the cranberry sauce and the pots are nearly boiling. I've remembered YPs, both GF and standard, and I'm going to run out to the supermarket as I'm not convinced that my bun tin is scrupulously clean, although I probably haven't used it since I bought it new for GF YPs last Christmas 😄 I've remembered red cabbage too so everything else I planned to do today will have to wait!

I'm in Australia right now. I can boot my home PC via Wake On LAN to access my files if I have to. I placed a webcam in front of it so that I can verify that it actually does so.
It's weird seeing my computer 16.500 km away from me. It feels like my own little Mars mission. Especially with how SSH feels at 300-400 ms latency.
And yes, that's a drinking glass I forgot on my desk.

This evening I have been listening to one of @… 's podcasts and thinking about my failure in trying to lead the village's planning working group, and about the cognitive dissonance underlying my Tricycle project. I suspect this essay will be a grim read; it's not well formed in my mind as I sit down to write.

The Point of No Return
I can't stop climate change by myself. I can't create a sustainable future for my village by myself. To do either of these things, everyone else needs to work together. But badgering people, being frustrated with people, being angry with people (and yes, I am angry — very angry — with people I know, and like, and respect, very much) doesn't motivate them to work together. My very frustration, my very sense of urgency, makes me a liability. I should stop.

Good Morning #Canada
Are you still looking for that perfect Christmas gift? Years ago I found myself shopping for my wife's Christmas present on December 23rd. Never again. For those of you still shopping it's inevitable that you're going to be standing in front of the Gift Card rack and mentally convincing yourself that the recipient will love a full gas tank or a Timmies coffee and donut. Canadians will buy close to $12 billion in Gift Cards in 2025, with a lot of that in the next 5 days. Recent changes to legislation have made it illegal to charge processing or activation fees on cards purchased with cash and there is no expiry date. That last point is important because companies are betting that a certain percentage of cards are never redeemed and it's estimated that approximately 40% of all cards are never used. I personally like getting a gift card as it allows me to choose something I want, and I always thank the gifter once I've used it.
