@… fans of Ray Bradbury might like this.
I remember dreaming, as the characters lived, inspired by writing. Flying, but not as a human, and the distinction didn't matter. Fire in my bones. Delicious fire.

Emotionally brutal poem. Don't read it if you are feeling fragile today.

Long Distance II

by Tony Harrison

Though my mother was already two years dead
Dad kept her slippers warming by the gas,
put hot water bottles her side of the bed
and still went to renew her transport pass.

You couldn't just drop in. You had to phone.
He'd put you off an hour to give him time
to clear away her things and look alone
as though his still raw love were such a crime.

He couldn't risk my blight of disbelief
though sure that very soon he'd hear her key

Sprig of Yew in falling snow that I captured on a dangerously cold day
#photo #photography #plants #trees

Green sprig of yew on the right side of the frame, most of which has falling tiny snowflakes and behind that a white-to-purple blurred out tangle of branches and distant white snow and maybe the sky.

Good Morning #Canada
#20 on our countdown of #CanadaRivers is the Back River, which flows for 974km across NWT and Nunavut. It drains an area of 106,500 km2, flowing from Contwoyto Lake north of Great Slave Lake, NWT, northeast across the Barren Lands of Nunavut to Chantrey Inlet in the Arctic. The river is named for Sir George Back, who first explored it in 1834. The original name was Thlew-ee-choh, likely Dogrib for "great fish river." It has a vertical drop of just over 380m over it's length with 83 rapids challenging serious canoists and kayakers. The British film, Beacon Six, was televised by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, showing the rugged landscape during a 1962 canoe expedition.
From 1963–1965, anthropologist Jean Briggs did field research with the Utkusiksalinmiut Inuit living at the opening of Back River and Chantrey Inlet, resulting in her work Never in Anger, as well as helping to compile an Utkuhiksalik dictionary.

Orange cat vs stink bug

Video of an orange cat seeing a stink bug by a window and then deciding to sniff it. Sniffing the little sticker causes the kitty to gag and recoil, but their curiosity does not subside. They carefully lift their paw to touch it, flinch even before that reach, then decide to not touchy the buggy. In the end, they just stare at it and wonder.

I had a medium distance/degree cousin who wrote two - yes two! - episodes for this TV series...
And if you listen closely to various episodes you will recognize the voice of the Billionaire John Berrisford Tipton as someone who moonlights for narration jobs on old Disney films or was Orson Wells.
