In this work, we introduce a self-adaptive implicit-explicit (IMEX) time integration scheme, named IMEX-RB, for the numerical integration of systems of ordinary differential equations (ODEs), arising from spatial discretizations of partial differential equations (PDEs) by finite difference methods.
