This study examines how Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine affected APCs, publishing patterns, and citation impact of Gold OA articles authored by Ukrainian scholars between 2020 and 2023. Data from Scopus covers articles published before (2020-2021) and after (2022-2023) the war's onset. Statistical analysis revealed a small but significant correlation between APC amounts and citation impact, though the effect size was minimal, suggesting higher APCs did not substantially boost citations.…

In case you're wondering whether "political violence" is escalating in the U.S.A. right now, of *course* it is as we move into an era of concentration campus and domestic military deployments. But both domestic genocides and purges as well as political violence targeted at individual prominent figures has been a *constant* throughout American history, from gun duels fought between political rivals to massacres of Native Americans in order to steal their land, to pogroms against Catholics, to literal wars on local Black success and political participation, all dating back before the American Revolution to the beginning of colonization. Beavers are considered the ultimate Keystone Species because they area they re-engineer offer benefits to many other species, and an entire ecosystem can collapse if a Beaver is removed. A Beaver dam doesn't just hold and conserve water. Beavers increase the population of frogs, fish, insects, birds, and small mammals and extend the range of larger mammals like moose, deer, and bears. The quantity and variety of vegetation are increased. Water is filtered and saturates the land, refilling artesian wells. It's unbelievable that we almost lost this amazing creature because of a hat fashion trend.
