Simultaneous observations of multiple ELVES and SPRITES at the Pierre #Auger Observatory: arxiv.org/abs/2507.11641 -> "the Pierre Auger Observatory has exploited a dedicated trigger and its very high time resolution to study ELVES and harvest record samples of multiple ELVES using the Fluorescence Detector (FD). In 2017, after extending the readout of trace lengths to 0.9 ms, we started observing other types of light transients from the base of the ionosphere, such as HALOS, which deserved further investigation. In December 2023 and April 2024, we installed two additional cameras (TLECAMs), which allow us to perform simultaneous detection of these transients with higher space resolution and longer integration times. Here, we present our first simultaneous observations of SPRITES and ELVES by both TLECAMs and FD."

Good morning! Here is a bee waking up and stretching. This week I learned that this is the season you see a lot of bees sleeping on flowers. Many of them are male bees who are not welcome back in the hive. They live short lives where hopefully they get to mate before the end of the season. A shame they're reduced to only being breeders. The Be/X-ray binary pulsar RX J0440.9+4431 underwent a giant outburst in late 2022 and lasted three months. The Insight-HXMT has observed this source at several instances of the entire outburst in 2022-2023. About two-thirds of disk galaxies host spiral arms, ranging from well-delineated grand-design spirals to fragmented flocculent spiral galaxies. We introduce fractal dimension $D_B$ as a non-parametric measure to distinguish between grand-designs and flocculents. We calculate the $D_B$ of 197 grand-designs and 322 flocculents from SDSS DR18, using the samples of \citet{Buta..2015} and \citet{Sarkar..2023}.
