Attempting to pick #comet C/2025 R3 (PANSTARRS) ouf of dawn today in MŸn at 55°N, at 4:13, :33 and :39 CEDT: solar depressions 14.5°, 12 1/3° and 11 3/4°, comet elevations 7 1/3°, 10° and 10 3/4° - so darker sky is more important that higher elevation. Visually the comet was underwhelming in 11x70 binoculars: that's certainly one for (bigger) cameras, not the eye. And the viewing window is closing fast anyway.

I have been using GNU/Linux for almost 18 years now (started with Ubuntu 7.10 in April 2008, just before 8.04 (Hardy Heron) was released). In that time, I stuck with Ubuntu for a few years, then switched to CrunchBang (#!) Linux, which then shifted its base from Ubuntu to Debian before ceasing to exist entirely (it was a one-man project), at which point I migrated to Debian proper (I think back in 2014).

nach ziemlich genau 10 jahren mussten wir ende 2025 das "infostreifenlesezeichen" für unsere bib im vom-stein-haus neu auflegen, weil sich die öffnungszeiten der bibliothek zukünftig häufiger ändern werden, aufgrund von sparmaßnahmen. gelegenheit, beide seiten etwas aufzufrischen und die streifen mal wieder in den umlauf zu bringen.

Oh well, our upcoming client doesn't provide cc files for each shot. Instead, we need to extract the grading values from an EDL file. Fortunately I've already written a script to do that a few years ago for another show.
The time to write a script might be more than what it takes to do the task manually (here it would be copying values from a text file to an xml file). But it pays off if you have to repeat the task. Even if that is 7 years later.

41.7 kWh generation today, tied for March 31st as my highest output to date.
Wife must have turned on the oven or something around lunchtime because we imported about 1 kWh around that time, but we were otherwise self sufficient from 11:15 to 15:00.
