Prediction for today from 2016:
"The United Kingdom is now the region’s foremost knowledge-based economy. We lead the world in biotech, law, education, the audio-visual sector, financial services and software. New industries, from 3D printing to driverless cars, have sprung up around the country."

”UK falling behind EU on environmental rules amid post-Brexit rollback”

Nearly half of British voters want another EU referendum in the next five years,
And less than a third would back Brexit in a new vote.
Research by More in Common for the Sunday Times reveals public attitudes towards Europe have shifted over the past decade.
The poll of more than 2,000 people found 29% would vote to leave the EU if the Brexit vote was repeated, compared to 52% in the referendum in June 2016.

I am in a pub in a small town in the countryside. The group of old men in the corner (these pubs ALWAYS have a group of old men in the corner) are having a vigorous argument about Brexit. I'm not sure they realise it's 2025 not 2015.

It's so weird that the Brexit UK government in buying OneWeb, after blocking UK companies from Galileo, has ended up in a tech partnership with France that became more valuable as counties started looking at non-US communications services.

The UK and Germany have agreed a friendship treaty aimed at resetting the countries’ post-Brexit relations. The treaty comes nearly a decade after Britain's vote to leave the European Union.

The accord — dubbed the "Kensington

Trump’s stories serve to exaggerate his foresight about and knowledge of domestic and foreign affairs,
embellish his biography and record in office, and diminish his political opponents.
The stories tend to be colorful even though they’re fake.
Trump’s historical fiction is sprinkled with vivid details and make-believe quotes,
all the better to make it seem authentic and get it to stick in the minds of voters.

Content warning: Starmer & co keen to cut protections against toxins

"Want to import toxic chemicals into Britain with scant scrutiny? Labour says: go right ahead"
George Monbiot explains:
"Yes, these proposals might reduce costs for business. But the inevitable result is to transfer them to society. ...
"Many have paid with their lives, health, education or livelihoods for previous “bonfires of red tape”: through the Grenfell Tower disaster, filthy rivers, collapsing classrooms, consumer rip-offs and the 2008 financial crisis. But as long as these costs can be shifted off corporate and current government balance sheets, that is deemed a win for business and win for the Treasury."
